Downhill/Freeride Mountain Bike Days

Yea, I got them to the service centre after I was in touch with you last. They serviced the forks and left some air out of an internal chamber so that I'd get more travel out of the fork....

I'm getting more travel now all right. Like all of it if I even look at a bump! If I set the forks plush then it keeps dropping to the 100mm travel setting. To stop that happening I have to put so much air in that they are really harsh.

I'll ride them as they are until the new bike comes, and then send them back. Think I will be doing the trans-provence with the forks as they are now though unless the new ride comes quicker then expected.

One of these will solve your problems mate.

You wouldn't be a cannondale fan would you Southie?

Interesting to see how they would work on a bike not designed for them.

Well you guys have sold me. I like to do the odd bit of Supermotard which is fun but hard to find tracks sometimes.

I am off to the States next week for a business trip. Hope to find a decent bike to bring back and do some DH & Trials. Seems a little difficult to find the right combination after reading this thread.

Any help would be appreciated.

eia,

anyone up for doing this trail next sunday?

http://www.traildevils.ch/trail.php?tid=190

it was suggested before here on EF.

/f

if some one go to davos i will hapy to join.

for now i have just my xc hardtail, after i crash with my santa cruz.

i would like to do enduro ride there or other places.

it will be nice to find new trail to ride and not just around winterthur

i saw some of the maxi avalanche riders and bikes at Flims on Saturday - man oh man i want some of that action - have to update my 10yo Canondale hardtail though methinks

time to sell the motorbike and just go pedal power i think too

btw anyone clear up why downhill bikes don't have the front derailer - something like a chain stay roller or something instead?

does this mean they only have one cog at the front?

can you get a freeride/XC bike that is the best of both worlds? for around 4K chf?

cheers!

yep they have just the smole one, some of them have 2, and a bash gard (ring).

u can buy free ride bike, and do most of the downhills rout with out to loose to much from the climbing section.

http://www.velomarkt.ch/veloboerse.p...=22&adid=93394

in velomarkt u can find alot and in very good prices

Staying with cannondale you could have a 2010 RZ ONE FORTY X 140mm travel and two rings up front for and with ISCG mounts for chain guards for the small price of 3,999 chf

http://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/10/CE/model-0VTX.html

Or for another 300chf you can get a Cannondale 2010 MOTO 4 with 160mm travel with three rings up front but also with ISCG mounts for mounting a chain guard.

http://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/10/CE/model-0VB4.html

You have the best, stay with them.

And don't believe what anybody says about Intense frames particularly(maybe spelt wrong) the Uzzi , they have never rode anything better.

Cheers all

i would buy intense uzzi after riding with them back at home (israel) i didnt whant eneything just them, but they didnt belong to me

along time ago, i take the frame from specailized stumpjumper, put fsa pig hadset, pig stem the short, front sus was dirt jumper 3, the rear was what come with the bike, wheels i buy dabomb, and fsa crank with fsa bash gurd.

it was really good, and i done most of the downhill corse. but in the end the frame didnt hold

so if u dont want to give away the up hills and long riding, buy enduro/am

bike.

Eire!? hello!?

PAGING EIRE!!!!

is it bad to want the Moto over the Rizer just because it looks cooler?

Wanting a bike for any reason is good, wanting a cool looking bike is better.

Damn I disappear for a week and I come back to have Southie dissing my new bike!

Its too late now, but there was a test day in Lenzerheide the weekend before last. You can ride most of the brands there on a good trail. I've done it the last two years and rode quite a few of the bikes on the market. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference and what you like. After all it will be you thats riding it.

Just to make Southie smile. The 7 day enduro race I just did in the south of France was one by a Canondale Prophet with a lefty. It must have been the bike, nothing to do with how farking good the rider was.

*sounds of fishing line getting reeled in?*

so how'd you go!? and on the Intense?

I came 14th on the Intense (5.5)... must have been the bike... not that I am a much worse rider then the guy on the Cannondale!

major kudos and congrats mate

Hey, well done Eire.

If only you had a Cannondale, just think!

For all you lift assist Junkies a lot of the lifts will be closing over the next few weeks. I'm posting the closing dates for a few resorts around Switzerland below.

I'll probably be doing some lift assisted riding during the week next week to make up for the amount of pushing/cycling up I did last week.

Was in Flims last weekend - stunning!

The max avalance downhill race was on - so many Cannondales!!! ok ok some Intense bikes too eh

alas not riding downhill as with the family... thinking if there is a nice day though that i'd take the day off and go down and rent a bike...

i can't pony up for a new bike now anyway - but saw this today in tempo-sport http://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/10/CE/model-0VT5.html

God it's sooooo nice - and soooo LIGHT!!!
