Drain rods

Hi

Doss anyone know of a sanitary/plumbers merchants in zurich?

I have a blocked drain and need to purchase a set of drain rods!

Kind regards

Chris.

What are drain rods?

Tom

Brack.ch lists these various tools and cleaners under "Abflussreiniger":

A drain rod translates as an Abflussstab:

Many thanks

Hopefully the blockage is leaves and not a rodent😳

Have a good day.

Think I've seen them in Migros/Coop

I've never heard of such a thing either. Are they flexible to go around bends? Are they better than a drain snake?

FYI, they sell snakes here at most DIY shops. Ask for " Reinigungsspirale " if you can't find them.

They are stiffer and are designed for those outside drains that don't have sharp bends. They'll help remove large blockages.

What the leaves and rodents? I know Migros sells everything (except booze and tobacco) but ..

Though drain & chimney immensely popular in the UK, the Swiss who wrestle with charging a light bulb, baulk at the very though of clearing their own drains.

That said Swiss water pressure could come to your rescue. You‘ll need the metal device on the end of the hose to drive the head forward.

Don‘t let your neighbours see you using one...

If you have or can borrow a Karcher, you can get a hose that goes on the machine with a metal head that will clean through most things. I use it to periodically clean our kitchen sink drain pipe (the installers managed to put the pipe on a reverse slope, so stuff builds up).

Here is a link for the Karcher model from Coop that shows the idea. You can probably find it cheaper elsewhere. I bought mine from Aldi (their brand).
