This year is coming to a close and all those new year resolutions are out of the window long ago. I am living in the German part of Switzerland, fluent in German, but I want to finally do something with my French. I have lost count of the attemps to do this, but since I learn visually and not by sitting in the classroom, I want to install a French satelite system and am considering the TNTSAT http://www.tntsat.tv/ , which is equivalent to the UKs Freesat. One off payment of around CHF250, 18 main French channels and includes a card for 4 years. It will do the job with an easy install. Then I think maybe a dreambox is a better solution, but then there are cams and cards and which Dreambox model would be best. Is the dreambox fiddely to set up? would like to hear from any dreambox owners who can pursuade me not to go down the TNTSAT route.
Hello
TNTSAT is useing Viaccess which should work in the Dreambox. The problem is, that they use a THING called QEV. With this, you can only use a TNTSAT card in the Strong receiver they sell, and this receiver is crap from what I heard.
You can get BIS though. It has most of the French channels, but no M6.
Satonline is selling cards:

From that I heard it works in the Dreambox. I just got a SRG card running, but assume it works with BIS too.
What's wrong with the standard Swiss fare? you should have included in your TV package at least the Swiss french channels TSR1 and 2 and hopefully a few French ones as well like TF1 Fr2 and 3v and M6
Only France 2 is available from the wall and the spare TV is a UK one, so I need some kind of box. Point taken with the Swiss, but there are only two channels, again need a box to get the sound on these. The main tv is mainly reserved to UK TV, but I am try to convert my better half to watch more local stuff.
