Dress code in Swimming pools

Hi

What is the dress code in Swiss Swimming Pools for both men and women, boys and girls?

bathing suits

Are bikinis and Speedos not ok?

Check with individual pools. Some pools ban swim shorts, so you need to wear trunks or speedo type swimwear.

We've seen people in bikinis in some pools, so they should be ok, but again, best to check with the pool you're going to.

of course they are fine

Yes, they are fine.

Where do you move from? Directly from garden of eden? Will you ask about pajamas next?

It really isn't such a stupid question.

As Mirfield says different pools have different rules. Some don't allow swim shorts, some oblige people to wear a swim cap etc.etc.

There is no general rule for Switzerland so it's best to check for the pool you want to go to but personally I've never been anywhere that doesn't allow speedos or bikinis.

And you can always rent everything if you need to right there.

Rent a bathing suit

I've never seen them for rent but I have seen them for sale. Along with goggles, baby swim nappies and other stuff.

Very much up to the canton.

Are you going through the whole wardrobe of your daughter and show it all to us? Take what she wants to take and check with the school what is allowed there.

She wants to tell her daughter "see, this is not allowed and that is not allowed, I told you so and people on EF confirmed".

It might be easier for us if she just sent us the daughter, we bring her up and return her when she is 18

Yes OK and preferred. Board shorts are not welcome-because they could be full of bacteria ( probably are ) and they lose alot of fibres. And if you want to wear boards shorts go to a beach in Hawaii!! They look soooooo stupid in pools.....on males anyhow. Guess they have a penis complex-dont want to show the bulge thing.

And yes I know in the USA if a man wears a speedo they think he's a homo. But thats normal in puritanical US

And here I have been thinking that the OP WAS the daughter. Turns out it is the mother. Oh, my.

Mom, let your kid go to school and see what everyone is wearing and make her own decisions. All teenage girls here do all of their shopping in Zara, Pull & Bear, H&M and C&A. If you do not have those exact stores where you are then your daughter's clothes are not going to be exactly right anyway, so why are you expending all of this time and energy?

You should be using this valuable time to stock up on brown sugar and Tylenol, , not crop tops and bikinis which can probably be worn for about two weeks of the year. You do realize you are moving to a cold country, right?

What are you talking about 2 weeks. Summer is 4 months!

Yes. To my knowledge and globally speaking, teens aren't so keen on their folks policing their clothes - winter nor summer. Nor making comments in fact, usually.

Part of the appealing fun will be for her to try to figure out what to wear, by herself. It was for me, too. It will take her a few days only, I wouldn't sweat over it, if anything, US always seemed slightly more conservative fashion-wise. Teens are very independent here.

Oh dear, on we go to long johns, jelly bag caps, moonboots .....
