Drive an old BMW?

Might want refrain from using your Takata airbag.

Car makers take their sweet time with these Takata airbag recalls. I remember reading about that long time ago. Then, last year, my old 2007 year Ford got this airbag recall.

Assume they are hoping that most will be in the junk yard before any recall.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I have an E46 M3, so I should probably have that checked.

That recall just continues a series. For European models: https://car-recalls.eu/bmw-3-series-…recall-airbag/

Actually! Doesn’t even need to be an old BMW.

ARC is refusing to recall 67 million vehicles! Hopefully nobody here is driving a 2016 Audi or VW or a 2017 BMW X5.

"Various 2016 Audi and Volkswagen – 1,216 vehicles"

Thats not exactly the complete VAG production line - must be some extremely niche products or some US only variant of them?

Actually those numbers are only for previous recalls. Total number that should be recalled is 67 million! Don't know how many Arc airbags are actually in VWs and Audis. One can only imagine.

None of notice in VW/Audi. Some in BMWs, but these are likely US made models only, so in Switzerland X3s and X5s might be affected mostly. ARC is a US based, rather local manufacturer, whereas Takata sold globally.

Looks like it's about models for the US market only. Another irrelevant thread.

Yawn. Most BMW X models sold in Europe during much of the recall-affected period, including pretty much every X3 and X5, were made in Spartanburg. So no, not irrelevant. But hey.

This is nothing new. My E46 M3 already had one replaced and was issued with a recall years ago for the other, so yes it's in Europe and yes the E46 M3 is affected. My *old* BMWs don't have this recall.
