Driving Lessons in English (in Zug)

Hello,

I've searched the forum, but I only saw one recommendation and it was from a few years ago, so I am taking the liberty to inquiry again and see if I can get a few more suggestions to compare:

I need to exchange my Brazilian driving license for a Swiss one. I understand I have one year to do that, and now that I have been here for a while and driving, I would like to take a few classes with a local instructor, in order to feel more confident about how the actual "test" I will have to take will be.

Thus, I need an English speaking instructor.

Can someone, please, recommend one place/instructor?

Any other tips?

I wish I could just exchange my license, but I guess being from Brazil it means I will have to take the road test...

Thanks,

awaiting....

Hello and good morning,

I reccomend Pernilla Genhart at in Zug.

http://www.verkehrsschule.ch/teamdet...illa%20Genhart

With her help i passed my test in November. Mind you, i had already had a driving license for 17 years from the UK ( don't ask).

I found her to be very informative and understanding, i.e not trying to teach an old dog new tricks but showing it the tricks lol.

Good luck.

Thank you. This is tye sort of info I am looking for... BTW, did you drive your own car, or hers for the lessons, and for the test? (does it make a difference?) ... how many classes did you have? (I also have a long time license.... so feel good about driving... and have not killed anyone yet while at it! ;-) )

Hahahahhahahaha you are funny about not killing anyone yet, i guess there is still time.

I did not have a car at the time and used hers for the lessons and for the test i am sure for a small fee, but i think it was tacked on to the lessons so it was not enough for me to notice, i guess.

I had eight classes of an hour but we always went over. She booked my test after the third lesson. I think it also helped that she knew the Test guys. I speak very little German but i managed the instructions well on the test day.

Thanks again for the reply.

Did she go with you on the actual test? (how long was it... and was it tricky?)

Is it possible to have the actual test in English? That part is freaking me out...

Thanks again...

I can tell you are freaked out and i was too.

She went with me to the test center and sorted everything out.

The tester will know you don't speak German. It will help to know things like , left, right and stop as that is all he will say. He will also use his hands and gesture to make sure you understand.

It took half an hour but it felt like two days. I was so nervous i could i lost my vision lol.

I suddenly could not reverse park ( a skill which ordinarily i am most proud of) and tried to mow down a few pedestrians. Stalled the car and became lead footed on the motorway.

When he said i had passed, which my tutor translated, i asked if he was drunk.

He said I could clearly drive and was just nervous and he didn't see the point of wasting every ones time with another test. You cannot have the test in english however, you might be lucky and get a tester who speaks a little english and is "WILLING" to help.

ahhaahah now is my turn, I was LOL with your post. thanks for sharing your experience and now I feel more ready to pursue this "roadblock".

Will report back in a few months, after I go thru it. thank you.

Good luck!

Does the Swiss driving test offer a written exam? If so, I assume that it will be in German since the OP lives in Zug. Does he know enough German to pass the written section of the test?

Anyway, I wish him the best of luck in getting a Swiss driver's license!

It's not the full test, just a kontrollfahrt. You only need the theory test if you fail the kontrollfahrt.

There is a multi choice theory test which you can take in English, I did.

I got permission from the Zug STVA to do it in Zurich. They are used to receiving these requests and i got a response within 48 hours.

Whoooaaa... multi-choice theory test? where did that come from?.. this is just in case it's a new license, right? not for the conversion??? Now you got me worried again...

I also live in Zug and started taking lessons with Peter Zwyer ( http://www.aegerital-fahrschule.ch/page11/index.html ) in Feb (he speaks English). I booked for the test in March and was given test date for today, 1 April.

It was all of 30 minutes and I was done (and passed). The lady that tested me spoke English too.

Pernilla Genhart in Zug

Drum roll....

And I passed!

Thank you everyone for the help and referral! It was really worth it and I am very happy that I passed.

Hi, everyone, can someone share what did Kontrolfahrt tested in Zug? I heard Metalli is a hot spot.

Just get nervous for the test.
