Easy Online Swiss Bank to Open an Account?

Hi I am wondering an easy bank account with hopefully no fees to open a Swiss Bank Account online?

Migros maybe?

Also does anyone know if Raiffeisen does that or do I have to go in? I think Raif is prob one of the best banks.

thanks

Try Postfinance, depending on average balance could be free.

I seem to recall trying that in person once and there was a huge stack of papers to sign

Neon? Alpian?

Don’t know about their charges though.

Most Swiss banks offer online opening nowadays, even the big ones. But I am not sure about your concept of “online”, this is what happens :

  • You must have a B/C permit, the real card (no letters, contracts, etc, the definite plastic card).
  • You need to download a ton of bank apps, and take pictures with the phone of the permit, passport, and your face.
  • You receive paperwork at home to sign and send back.

For foreign banks operating in Switzerland (Revolut and the like) the process may be different, but they are not “Swiss”.

I don’t think you can avoid the signing of papers, most need a sample of your signature. [You mean you went there and when you saw the stack you left and now looking for a different one without papers to sign? ]

Neon, Yuh are online banks, no need to sign anything and no fees, Neon also has no fees on transactions in other currencies, very good rate, i always use it for online shopping. You have to submit your residence permit during sign up process. Migros is one of the worst banks, especially online, africa level of technology or customer service, though they have good private credit interest rates, if you plan on smth like this.

ya lol I didn’t sign the post finance papers. I need to open a new bank and maybe a few for traveling in case I lose a debit card or something so just trying to figure out some easy ones. Online I didn’t mean there were no actual physical banks I just meant an easy online opening process. I have a Swiss ID as I am Swiss. Dual National.

So I guess, ID and an address is all you need? It would be nice to get at least a tiny bit of interest as some banks offer none.

Revolut sent a replacement card to me at a hotel in Vietnam. No interest but no fees either (unless you opt for optional services).

Do you actually need a physical card? With Apple Pay and contactless I rarely use the physical card. And with Apple Pay the retailer doesn’t see your card number or other information, only Apple does.

When using Apple Pay, a retailer sees limited information about the customer. They receive a device-specific account number and transaction details, but not the actual card number or personal information like what was purchased or the amount spent(Legal - Apple Pay & Privacy- Apple) (Apple Pay: What it is, and Why it’s Great News for Retailers - Lightspeed). For transactions involving shipping, the retailer may receive the customer’s name, shipping address, email, and phone number (What personal data is sent when paying? - Apple Community). Apple Pay uses tokenization to ensure that sensitive card details are not shared with merchants, enhancing security (How to use Apple Pay in stores and online (and why you should)).

If you reside in Switzerland or have a bank account in CH, DE, FR, IT, AT post finance/yuh it’s relatively simple.

If no residence in Switzerland or countries that share a border with Switzerland, this is a different kind of problem. “Online” is not a bypass for KYC/AML compliance.
