Easyjet now has business class?

Strange thing happened to me lats week at Basel airport.

I usually don't print my bioarding passes but use the easyjet app on my iPad or just load the boarding pass as pdf on the iPad.

As usual I walked up to the place where they scan your boarding pass just before you pass through security. In Basel there are several such barriers for economy passengers and one for business passengers.

I walked up to one of the econmy barriers and held my ipad to the scanner and it beeped and the display said something about business. I though it might be an error so I tried again. The same happened. Then a member of airpoirt staff came up to me and said I had a business class boarding pass. So I walked to the business scan barrier and that worked perfectly. I thus bypassed the entire cattle class queue and could go straight through security.

The OH was pretty disgruntled as she had a printed boarding pass and it didn't work for here. I didn't save any time either as I had to wait for her.

I guess it must be a software glitch as I can't imagine Easyjet giving me a preferntial treatment (even though i use them quite frequently). I hadn't even opted for Speedy Boarding or anything. Anybody else come across this glitch?

It probably was just the airport nomenclature for speedy boarding, since its not exactly a feature of Swiss, BA, Lufthansa etc..

I think it is for "fast track" rather than SB.

I'm Easy Jet Plus but was flying with my family (who are not- but did have SB). I went with them in the normal line but when I tried to scan at the "economy" gate, it rejected my pass. I had to walk back through the economy line and go over to the fast track/business line. They went through with no problem.

How odd.

Is not fast track the same as speedy boarding?

I've never tried to go through that scanner with just a SB ticket, but I do know the fast track symbol is different than the SB guy.

You should have been living it up in the lounge!

EasyJet Plus membership plus I think Flexi fares give you fast track options at many airports including GVA. It is different from speedy boarding at the gate.

I think it is a great option and well worth the membership fee, when combined with free seating choice and speedy boarding.
