Ebay Switzerland Customer Service

I am presently travelling abroad in Romania on a business trip and I tried to buy something on Ebay Switzerland. Because I am in Romania they partly blocked my account, since the automatic software thought that it may have been used by someone else. OK I understand that, so I go through the process to get this lifted and I send Ebay an email, which is the only possibility, they say they will answer in three working days. So I google and eventually got a Swiss number for Ebay - 0844 566000 I talked to their customer service and got the response that someone will contact you within a week, the account is still blocked. I then try another avenue Ebay Customer Service chat and talk to someone in the USA. She was helpful, but didn't solve the problem. Somehow I ended up giving the US Customer Service a call on 001 866 961 9253 and they solved the issue in 5 minutes, not three working days or 1 week. So that was my evening! Telephone numbers are not that easy to find, hence the post.

Should have called the US customer service first...

I very much doubt Ebay CH customer service is located in CH, I don't think Ebay has any offices at all in Switzerland. It's probably some call centre in Ireland or India.

The guy I spoke too was German, no idea where he was based, but as you rightly say, probably not in Switzerland.

In Ireland they have quite a few call centres for various companies with native speakers from all over Europe.

Ebay have offices here ( lots of jobs in Bern and Zurich ), though I suspect you are right about the call centre.

When I moved to Switzerland I attempted to move my base on ebay here. It proved too difficult, (just create a new account on .CH and lose your 1500 positive feedback was the only advice), so it still believes I am in the UK. Paypal on the other hand had no problem doing this. Unless I missed a demerger story, they are still the same company....

in a way though that makes sense as paypal and ebay started as seperate companies and later joined. i could imagine their infrastructures being completely different.

looks like theyre expanding in zürich... theyve had a footprint in bern since at least 2001 but i just recently noticed their office in kreis5, around the big tower by hardbruecke.

i just changed my main address.

years ago when trying to open a ch account it wanted to go down the route of ricardo with letters to prove address etc - no chance we were doing that so just opened an account on uk ebay and then changed main the address

maybe they changed it now?

I changed my contact details from UK to Swiss last week, it took 5 minutes and was painless.

Just change you uk address to Ch address and sign in ebay.ch

Not much point in answering this ancient thread but as a matter of fact "Bern is where eBay has its international (all outside of USA) headquarters since 1999... "

Of course that does not mean their customer service is good here or even exists in CH.

Change your details from UK to CH,it will work.

Lucky you. My husband had a nightmare trying to sort out Paypal, just to reclaim a £1 voucher. Couldn’t do it on his Swiss account, couldn’t do it on his UK account, helpline no help at all. In the end he gave up and we’ve had to pay the credit card company the £1 outstanding balance. Absolutely ridiculous.
