EDK Language requirements

Hi all

I hope you can help.

My OH and I are teaching in schools where English is the main language of instruction. These schools are within the Swiss system not International Schools

We are starting the EDK process and I am a bit confused about the language requirements.

My OH says the requirement is C2 but I thought if the language of instruction was in English then the requirement was B2.

I am teaching English, History and Science and my OH teach Maths.

Thanks in advance

What level? Primary, Sek. I or Sek II? As far as I know the requirements differ, so you may both be right.

My OH teaches IB

I teach Primar through to Sek 3

Did you even try to search? Sorry to be so blunt but it took me like 30 seconds to find the information on the EDK website.

See the "factsheet required language" on https://www.edk.ch/de/themen/diploma...sche-diplome-1

It is C2 if you want to teach in German/French/Italian or B2 if you teach in a non Swiss language.

Here is the relevant text:

A language diploma at level B2 of the European Reference Framework in French German or Italian is sufficient for teachers who exclusively teach a non-national language (e.g. English or Spanish) as a foreign language at secondary I level or in Baccalaureate schools, as they do not necessarily have to teach in one of the national languages

That implies for B2 you have to teach a foreign language, not just in a foreign language, right? Ie teach English = B2, teach maths in English = C2 ??

From the EDK Website:

"A language diploma at level B2 of the European Reference Framework in French German or Italian is sufficient for teachers who exclusively teach a non-national language (e.g. English or Spanish) as a foreign language at secondary I level or in Baccalaureate schools, as they do not necessarily have to teach in one of the national languages."

So if you teach Maths or History through English, then C2 is required.
