So, to avoid this, egg white and yolk of many eggs are industrially divided, separately cooked and then reunited in long cylindrical (sausage-like) shape. In German this is called a Stangenei , I don't know the English word. The sandwich maker then cuts of slices off the stangenei, and the customer thinks he has a slice from the perfect middle of an egg on his bread.
I don't think this is something exclusively Swiss.
/KraBaT I can live with your occasional use of web slang but I really think that flamewar pictures should not become part of the forum culture!
I've seen some misshapen eggs and yolks in my time here. And what about egg salad...oh no.....not perfect!
Far too much yolk for my liking anyhow.
Boil two eggs until hard throughout, slice them in one of those egg slicing thingys which look like miniature harps.
Arrange egg slices (with yolk of course) over freshly buttered bread and sprinkle a bit of Aromat over. Pour some Heinz salad cream over, cover with second slice of bread and eat whilst warm.
I just HAVE to go make one now
Then again back in Australia I would always order extra dill pickle on my Hungry Jacks (Burger King) Whopper
I also don't always want that mayonnaise mustard mix that seems to also be on every sandwich....
Why can't I find a real sandwich: Ham, butter on baguette.. that's all, nothing more!
I love pickles. I miss the big ass deli sized ones from my fave deli back home. it's a must have when I visit. the thing is the size of sausage.
Il Pentagrama on Josef Strasse is the exception. Superb. But then it is Italian.
I was reading this thinking how witty you were for making something up so ludricus ! Then I clicked on the wikepedia link _ ITS TRUE?!!!!!
that places makes a mean sandwich indeed.
Well done! Now I have to pop down to the storage room because I fancy one myself
We do it a bit differently though. We put the eggs in the cutter twice (both ways) so we end up with little stripes. We add salt, pepper and salad cream (or hellmans) and mix it. Then we get those nice soft white buns from Migros, cut them open in the middle and fill them with the eggs and sprinkle some kresse on the top
Dunno if this is what you're after. My youngest son loves pickles. Two weeks ago I came across this jar containing large ones in Migros. It's part of their "Budget" range and thus is reasonably priced at Fr.-3.35
The pickles are the largest ones that I've seen here.
