Eid festival in Switzerland

Hi all, maybe it is late but I wanna congratulate everybody with Eid ul Fitr, hope we will be alive till next Ramadan, wish you all happiness, peace and health, take care! (is this post make you think that I wanna die ?) Bye

And for Turks it is the Sugar Bayram. Because the children get presents including many sweets.

Hi All,

Just to let u'll know eid celebrations were really peaceful at oerlikon,

there was khutba (sermon) before namaz , and later we prayed eid-ul fitr.

After dat we exchanged eid greetings with all muslims sisters and kids who were present. Its amazing how people really wish u with all thier hearts on eid reagrdless of your nationality. And the best part we had sweets and samosa's.. I heard unfortunately, the men did not hv (samosa's), but the ladies did . It was a good day made new friends, met new people. Insha-allah waiting for next eid .

eid-ul-adha.

Nikkyshaikh, it was good at the Oerlikon venue, but I missed the samosas. Were you there? If so, I was the one going round people with the 'mathai' tray!

Belated Hari Raya Ramadhan or is it Puasa?

Well thats strange because in Eid the namaz is before the khutbaa..

There's a difference between the Obligatory "Khutba" and the Mullah "flexible the muscles, addressign the sinners" Khutba/Sermon and most muslims/people cant tell the difference.

Non Arabic speakers, take the one in Arabic as Khutba and the one in their local language as a "sermon"

Apols! AliAhmedAdnan

That is correct in Malaysia! and likewise to you, and all on the forum.

.

I saw Eid messages are still being exchanged, so..... belated Eid Greetings all... I'm arriving in Basel late December, and my family a bit later... so hopefully we'll be celebrating next Eid with you all.

Hello all!

First of all, my apology for asking something that's not related with the issue being discussed currently. I am a newbie to this Forum and I'm not allowed yet to make a new post but I have an urgent question I hope someone can help me?

My name is Kathy, just recently moved to Zurich from Indonesia. I am wondering if anyone can help me informing about an Indonesian community in Zurich? I've never met any, those I've seen - they speak Thai or Tagalok?

Another important thing is- this coming Thu is going to be the Ied day, a big Muslim celebration day and I want to do a pray-together like I used to do in Jakarta but all the mosques that I called, either they don't speak English and German, they told me it's only for MEN (huh? really?) and they're puzzled when I explained to them that in my homeland the Ied prayer is something for both.

So I am lost and confused here, and I feel kinda "lonely" in a sense that I don't know where I should go/do on the Ied day.

Any advises/input please?

Thanks sooo much in advance for your help!

Kathy

Eid festival in Switzerland

Have a good celebration

Hello all!

I am a newbie to this Forum and I'm not allowed yet to make a new post and after such a long extensive search, I've finally found a thread about this topic about Idul Fitri day.

First of all, is it going to be Thu or Fri? People tell me different things. On this day, I'd like to a do a pray-together like I used to do in Jakarta but all the mosques and muslim organization/association that I called, either they don't speak English and German, they told me it's only for MEN (huh? really?) and they're puzzled when I explained to them that in my homeland the Ied prayer is something for both.

So I am lost and confused here, and I feel kinda "lonely" in a sense that I don't know where I should go/do on the Ied day.

Any advises/input please?

Thanks sooo much in advance for your help!

Hi,

try to contact these people:

They should have all the contacts you need.

Hi!

Thanks for the info! I will look it up!

I have a problem. i am supposed to be going to an Eid festival. My problem is that I can not go with a good heart, not just because I didn't stick to the fast this year ( I was actually sick travelling and had a dental abscess) but because I have not exactly been following the good deeds, good heart, good thoughts path. So I do not deserve to go. However if I don't go then others may feel that I am snubbing them. What do I do- go and not eat?

I think you still should go there. Eid is a day of celebration and is for everybody. You should go and share their happiness as well. The Prophet (pbuh) said “Every son of Adam (i.e mankind) commits sins. But the best of those who commit sins are those who repent and seek forgiveness”. And realization of any sin is first step to repentance. There is no limit to the mercy of Allah so always be positive and try your best to do good.

Hi Kathy,

One mosque i know that definitely has been built for both men and women is this one on Rotelstrasse:

http://mosque-finder.com/show_mosque.php?id=2120

I think they only speak Arabic & German there. I think you'd have to visit them in person and hope that someone present can speak English.

If you have any specific questions, list them here and i'll give them a call and report back.

And Eid will be either Thursday or (more likely) Friday.

Regards

Kash.

Happy EID-Fest
