dear all coudl some one let me know if ramadaan eid in Switzerland is tomrorow 9 september 2010

Yes it is.

Hold on.. Europe announced that tomorrow, Thursday is Eid.

HOWEVER, Switzerland is following Saudi Arabia, and thus, tomorrow is Ramadan and Friday is Eid.

www.islam.ch:

On our schedual who follows Weil Am Rhein and Basel it says tomorrow is Eid.

The reality is that outside of the Muslim world, you'll find differences on the date of Eid even within one city, with some mosques celebrating Eid on one day, and others the next.

It appears that the Turkish communities will be doing Eid on Thursday, and the rest on Friday.

Kathy, this mosque has facilities for women and will be offering the Eid prayer at around 7.30am on Thursday morning:

hmmm.. so its not that all Switzerland have Eid on the same day or what?

when you say schedule...is it the paper with the prayer times? they are not a reference for defining end of ramadan. It requires the sighting of the moon crescent of the new month.

I heard in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon it's on Friday.

Don't know so far for Switzerland

it has been fixed to 10chf per person. you have to give it before Eid prayer. To anyone in need

According to good Swiss tradition, each Kanton should of course have it's own calendar for it

in Geneva, Eid will be on Friday 10 Sept.

Zakat is not fixed, it is fitrana also known as zakat ul fitr, zakat is calculated against your earnings, savings, gold etc, 2% of your savings have to be paid to the needy people

it's zakat el fitra we are talking about. The zakat on your assets and earnings can be paid anytime of year but must be calculated on 12 months

Heard that the Turkish folks will celebrate on Thursday because EU says it is tomorrow but the rest of the folks in CH say Friday. I'll settle for Friday because I don't see the moon tonight.

Kash! Again, thanks a lot

You're so informative xxx
