'Eiger Sanction' hotel nominated 'Historic Hotel of the Year'

The Hotel Bellvue des Alpes at Kleine Scheidegg has been nominated as the Historic Hotel of the Year 2011

This is the hotel that featured in The Eiger Sanction. Having seen the hotel from the outside on several occasions, it never struck me as anything remarkable.

When I saw the article above I looked at the hotel website and was amazed by the interior. If anyone is looking for a little 1920's style, I doubt if you would find anywhere better.

This doesn't come cheap though, with double rooms from CHF370-520 a night.

Sadly, that's about right for a room in a resort area in CH. And with those interiors (if you like that olde worlde kinda thing) and that kind of kudos, the rack rate is even looking attractive!

By the way, that is rack rate. Try calling the hotel direct; you'll often be surprised at the offer they make, especially outside of peak season. Alternatively, try booking through a US-based online service such as expedia.com.

Sigh . . .how lovely. I would want to be wearing a ski skirt (I have an avid skier friend who remembers having a special skirt for skiing. She is 99) and I want a hot buttered rum to drink. Love, love, love historical buildings.
