Electrical wires in power socket in balcony

Hi. Our apartment is a new construction and comes with a square power socket in our balcony to install an out door light. We purchased one and upon installing it ourselves the inside power switch doesn’t turn it off.

The apartment electrical wires include:

Blue

Brown

Yellow/blue for ground

Orange

The light fixture came with all colors except the ORANGE.

What is the orange wire for? Maybe it’s meant to be used for the power switch so we can turn off the light? Thanks for any help!!!

Do you mean that it never goes off, or you expect to control it by more than one switch?

Probably it's best to clarify with the property management which switches are what for. I'm not sure if it's a standard here but I got a wiring plan stashed in my fuses box.

Connect the lamp brown to the power orange.

The orange one is for when you have multi-switch controlled sockets/lights - there is a thread somewhere that explains it. I would not expect the socket on the balcony to be controlled by anything other than the fuse-box. You might need a remote controlled extension lead to turn your balcony lights off from inside.

The orange is switched power, the brown is unswitched power.

Blue is neutral.

Are you sure about that ?

I've a plug outside, but there is no switch. It could be completely possible it's just a power socket and you might want to get a lamp with its own switch.
