Electronics Hobby Shops

Can anyone suggest an electronics hobby shop in the Geneva area (or Annemasse)? I would like to start a couple of projects with my son who has had some fun ideas to explore - but dont have the first clue about electronics. Looking for a shop where I can buy components and get advice as well...

I can find http://www.feller.ch/fr?sc_lang=fr in Renens

or Conrad online http://www.conrad.ch/ce/fr/category/...FfQatAodlXUAcA

Feller is not hobby electronics, it's household electrical installation.

According to its owner, Pusterla in Zurich is the only remaining retail electronics parts/hobby shop in the country, other than the Conrad chain (based in Germany).

I'd suggest ordering online if you can't make it to Zurich. Look at https://learn.adafruit.com/ for tutorials on basic electronics hobbying (I dunno if that's a real word, but I'm using it!).

That's not true. We've got a shop in Wadenswil that sells electronic components. The owner knows his stuff too.

It doesn't help the OP though.

His best bet would be to buy online and get help from another source (we could have a thread on here for example) or use a dedicated forum.

I recommend you to buy one (or more) of Arduino's kits.

Have a look at the web site.

Don’t know if Pearl.ch would have anything for you.

They have 4 shops in Switzerland, but they’re all over on the German side. But if you click on the French flag you’ll be taken to their French website which may be better for you.

Asif Elektronik must be good, because he advertises on EF. See "similar threads", below. In fact his range and his prices look very good. I normally get my stuff sent from China (slow but dirt cheap) or UK (fast and cheap), but I will try Asif in future.

www.distrelec.ch for the, erm, more advanced hobbyists

Apart from those menntioned (Conrad - huge selection, but lengthy delivery (expect to wait for a week), or Distrelec - huge selection, next day delivery (never failed once))

There is also http://www.play-zone.ch/en/ (arduinio kits and electronics) and http://www.boxtec.ch/ (same).

http://www.brack.ch/ also sell electronics kits (Velleman) and Arduino stuff, but not single components. Delivery is free (and next day)

I noticed that with Playzone, Boxtec, that the quality of some of the components is not so good - e.g. resistors with extremely thin leads, that seem to resist making a good contact in the breadboard, etc.

This is new but they have really limited range

This is located near Basel

I would still recommend http://www.taydaelectronics.com/ if you could wait for 1-2 weeks

I've ordered quite a few things from the mentioned http://www.play-zone.ch/ and have been very satisfied.
