Did anyone also get an email seemingly from the old forum this morning?
I got an email, addressed to Island Monkey, from English Forum, entitled “The Ultimate Guide to Hunter Lead Generation: Finding Your Next Big Client on English Forum Switzerland“ - email address was [email protected]
Closed the forum, but still using our details? Or selling them on?
Sometimes websites get hacked. I used to use a different email for different websites and could see now an again when they got hacked and that specific email getting leaked.
Or you get some marketing emails from the provider.
Yes, I got one and just posted over there about it asking what the hell is going on. Lots of marketing threads in the introductions subforum that need clearing out too.
Ahh. I thought it was from the original forum by the Local. Was this another that was set up at the same time as this one? I’d forgotten more than one was created when the Local closed us down.
I assumed it was from the new one as it say English Forum Switzerland on it.
URL has forumotion in it so it comes from there I think.
yes, one was set up on forumotion, which is where the email came from.
It was an intermediate forum set up following the demise of the original. I’ve managed to login and change or delete notifications etc., but I can’t find how to delete the account itself.
Many of us are there in the members list!
I think you need to email an admin if you want to completely remove your account. I just did a quick search for the same thing, that cam up as one reply. CBA to do it myself, there’s so little on there, and I don’t use that email address for anything else anyway (well, it’s what I used to sign up here, but not one I ever actually check).
I had a separate email address for EF and I also used it to sign up here but I deleted that address all together February this year.
I don’t know why people received emails. I don’t see anything that looks like a hack behind the scenes. It does look like several new users registered and were able to post without being preapproved, so I’ve turned that off.
The only reason we’ve left the site up for this long is that it can direct people looking for EF over to this site.

just (yesterday) send an email to the “old-new” forum and got the confirmation that my account has been deleted. Many thanks 3Wishes!!! now I have 2 more left! 
I wasn’t really bothering to check my emails last week as I was in London for 4 days, but I noticed on Friday when I got back I’d had one of these.
