Anyone have a number for an emergency plumber who speaks English? We’ve had a major water overflow from the upstairs toilet and need a plumber asap!
Zurich? Basel? Geneva? Lugano?
In the meantime, many toilets have a stopcock where you can turn off the water going to the toilet. Failing that, there will be a stopcock at the water mains
Damn, rushed too much. Fribourg area, sorry!
Yeah, sadly the upstairs toilet doesn’t have one which is where the problem occurred so we’ve had to turn water off at the mains.
I suspect it does, most usually do here, it will be a cap on the end of the pipe, unscrew it and inside will be a brass screw, screw with down on it will cut the water off to the toilet, if it is the toilet that is the problem
Sometimes instead of a valve, you can turn with your fingers there is a screw with a slot head inside the tube which you turn with a screw driver.
Yes, that was it Biro, thanks. Hubby had forgotten that he turned the water off there when he replaced the valve a few years ago.
Still need to contact our maintenance people since we had water coming through the kitchen ceiling.
Also, talk to your insurance first, they generally have a list of recommended vendors.
Yeah, now we’ve got the toilet turned off no need for an emergency plumber. Will have to contact the insurance anyway re claim for any damage, but yes they may have preferred professionals they use.
