We recently moved to Basel and we have health insurance with Sanitas. I need to see an eye doctor as I have either got an eye infection or something on the inside of my eye but it's killing me. I am very short sighted (-13) so at some point will need to go to the opticians for an eye test but right now I need an eye doctor and I have no idea how I go about finding one/booking an appointment or using health insurance.
I did search this forum first but could only find info on Opticians.
There is an eye clinic right inside SBB. http://www.augenzentrumbasel.ch/azb/de.html The reception also speaks English. They are very busy but there are several doctors so you should be able to make an appointment for perhaps the next day if the problem is urgent.
As a temporary measure to get some comfort you could ask in apothek for some drops (but think they don't sell the most effective chloraphenicol based Optrex type OTC). Hopefully it is not more than a pollen triggered allergic conjunctivitis, but also being short-sighted -15/-16 know what a PITA it is to rely on glasses instead of contact lenses until things clear up. Good luck
