English speaking hairdresser in lausanne?

Does anyone know any english speaking hairdresser in lausanne?

Any recommendations?

Raj

Just to clarify, are you looking for a hair stylist or a barber? I know there's a place near the top of Chemin des Croix Rouges (on the right-hand side heading down from Pont Chauderon) run by an an English-speaking African guy that you could go to for barber work (e.g. a number 2 all around) or probably a basic guy's cut, but if you're looking for a stylist I'm afraid can't help.

As a warning, expect to pay at least three times as much as you would in Canada. I remember back in Waterloo I used to think $20 for a haircut was extortion, and now I think $50 in Lausanne is lucidrously cheap.

Thanks Heather

You have been a great help. Yeah I am looking for a barber. I really need a hair cut. I should have done that just before I left toronto. Yeah , talking to people I realized that its going to be quite expensive. I am actually thinking about shaving my head on a regular basis...lol. I will try this place you recommeded.

So you are from waterloo or you went to U of Waterloo ? What you doing here ? I think you told me that you are a post doc. What kind of research you do ?

Take care

Raj

yeah, welcome to swiss prices...

I can't really help much - most places downtown will understand english, but would not expect much of a conversation...

Personally on hairdressers - (don't do barbers, am a lady), so have grown long hair and figured out how to cut myself. .... HAHAHA

nonsense prices!!! especially if it's just a regular "cut" and not one of those "toni and guy" type spiky haired people

Hi Heather

I found that english speaking african barber. He did a good job and cost me CHF 25. I am not sure if it was too much or just fair compared to other barber shops around here. The guy was pretty relaxed and dacing while giving hair cuts to people.

Thanks

Raj

I am bringing back this thread, as I desperatly need a hairdresser (for ladies!) in Lausanne, and have no clue where to go. If anyone can recommend anyone that would be great! If they can speak English or Italian, that would help too.. I have seen quite a few around, but too scared to go in.. If I end up with short hair, I have been told I will get dumped...

Thanks!

I am starting work Monday and desperately need a Hairdresser in Lausanne. Preferably one that speaks English. I remember searching this forum some time ago an found a thread describing a good one in Flon. (Anyone know which tread that is?)

Also I hope I can find someone with no scheduling needed in advance...

I hope you can help me

(NB I am a guy age 30...for info regarding the choice of hairdresser)

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew of an Australian hairdresser in or around Lausanne? I don't necessarily need someone who speaks english, but just someone who isn't going to botch up foils !!

Any recommendations?

Many thanks,

Elise

Nicole at Chez Maxim (see above posts) does a good job. She is not Australian (didn't realise we had the market cornered on foils ) but she speaks excellent english and used to have a salon in New York city.

Great, thanks for this, I'll have to make an appointment.

Hi,

Slight Tangent, but does anyone know if this african dude is an actual 'Barber' or just does hair-cuts. I'm trying to find somewhere in the Lausanne area that I can go to for a good old fashioned barber's shave on the morning of my wedding.

Any idea?

Just to add.... I went to chez maxim on the weekend and she was amazing, she did a fantastic job and will open at all times if you have an appointment. She is very flexible. I had a cut and colour and was really happy, she is not too expensive and she will give a 10% discount if you mention the english forum as well..... She is well worth the visit!

i'm gonna try that women at chez maxim too! glad to have found this thread. along the same lines, ladies- know anyone in lausanne who does eyebrow threading?

i've been looking but found no one.

had been to chez maxim too.....she does a fantastic job

Hi,

I have recently moved to Lausanne and have always used Toni & Guy in UK and never come out with a spikey haircut. Also I have tried Eric Stipa, Av de la Gare. They don't speak English but I was very happy with the cut and the price for a cut and blow dry with the manager was cheper then what I used to pay.

Amita

Does anyone have the contact info for the nice lady at 'Chez Maxim'? Thanks!
