English to swiss german

Hi there

Just joined this site after scouring the internet in vain for hours trying to translate english into swiss german!!

Im english but I just split with my swiss girlfriend and am trying to woo her back by writing to her in swiss!! Corny I know but worth a try, so if anyone could help id be very grateful.

Heres what i want to say:

I dont want to give up on our realtionship.

Things have been hard since the beginning but all the best things take a lot of effort.

The times i spent with you watching the Sea at Robin Hoods Bay and eating waffles in Brussels were as close to perfection as possible.

Please come to see me in New York- its not as cool as Basel but we can still have fun!

Im sorry i left you, please come back to me.

Im crazy about you!

Its my fault for leaving her in Basel and going to new york so Ill risk the embarrassment of asking for help online!

Thanks in advance

Please clarify, you left her, want her back and are asking her to visit you in NY?

Whats wrong sending this line in ENGLISH ???

He doesn't know Ontario

hey luminous, thanks for replying.

I had to go to new york to work and i stayed here too long to the point where the relationship deterioated.

I cant go back to Europe until probably Spring so I want her to come visit me here so we can patch things up.

Cannus, like all English people im afraid im not able to speak other languages, so seeing as she always speaks and writes to me in English id like to make the small effort and write to her in swiss german.

thanks

ok. that's really sweet. i can't translate for ya. but as a fellow new yorker and a romantic soul i gotta tell for love it's always worth a try.

and good for you for not giving a damn, but why don't you call her and say what you feel?

either way i wish you the best and be prepared, if it works, to pack your bags for CH...

You should send her a ticket then

thanks amayra

Tried the calling, this is the next step-besides its become a mission to get it translated- im not kidding ive been googling for hours.

Yeah fingers crossed next year ill be spending me saturdays in pickwicks in Basel

Maybe you should stop googling yourself, and start looking at some translation sites .

Sent you a PM

Translation sites won't be a big help, unless you're willing to settle for a German rather than a Swiss-German translation. Oh, and btw, perused any perfectly lucid translations from Babelfish et al lately??

Here you go:

Good luck dude,

If it does not work out, I have an Ex in DC, and maybe we could swap

Doc.

After seeing Easy's translation, I made a few slight changes to the translation I sent you as a PM.

Black: your text

Blue: Swiss translation

Red: remarks on slight deviations from your text, as not everything t ranslates well 1:1

Good luck!!

Ich wett üsi Beziehig nid ufgäh.

Things have been hard since the beginning but all the best things take a lot of effort.

Siit äm Afang isch es nid eifach gsi, aber die beschte Sache im Läbe verlanged üs viel ab.

... but all the best things in life ask a lot of us.

The times i spent with you watching the Sea at Robin Hoods Bay and eating waffles in Brussels were as close to perfection as possible.

Diä Zytä wo mir zäme gha händ, am Meer in Robin Hoods Bay, oder mitenand Wafflä ässe in Brüssel, die sind für mich so nöch anere Vollkommeheit wie s nu cha si.

The times we had together at the sea in Robin Hoods Bay, or eating waffles together in Brussels...

Please come to see me in New York- its not as cool as Basel but we can still have fun!

Chum mich doch bitte cho bsueche in New York - es isch nid so cool wie Basel, aber mir chönds trotzdem schö ha!

... not as cool as Basel, but we can still have a good time!

Im sorry i left you, please come back to me.

Es tuet mir so leid, dass ich Dich verloh han und ich bitte Dich, zo mir zrugg z cho.

Im crazy about you!

Ich ha Di irrsinnig gärn!

Am not sure if you know the thing about Swiss German, you can say "ich liebe Dich" i.e. "I love you", but that's very very serious. And often Swiss will say "ich ha Di gärn" to say "I love you" even though it literally means "I like you". "Irrsinnig" is "crazy" - well more or less.

thanks for all the help, esp Frollein and easy.

Very kind of you to take the trouble
