Euro 2024

The hooliganism of the 1980s/early 90s is ancient history now.

Not sure if it’s true but I read that the Spanish side had to pay a fine each time he played late in the evening because EU working directive bans kids under a certain age from working after a certain time.

Me, today.

Its not EU, but German labor law. Minors cannot work past 8pm, but there is an exception for athletes as the deadline is extended to 11pm. However, if the Spanish association is indeed fined EUR 30k it is really money well invested.

That was it. :+1:t2:

Wasn’t really invested although it’s probably a good thing Spain won… Can you imagine the journalists and co. who would be slobbering over the multicultural England team who won the Cup?!

What’s wrong with a multicultural team?!

Absolutely nothing at all but kk needs to find a way to show his bigoted racist opinions in every thread somehow doesn’t he?

Also has a short memory that Saka, Sancho and Rashford came in for tabloid-enabled racist abuse after missing penalties in Euro 2020.

Even more than that…the “monocultural” Harry Kane has had a very poor performance vs the “multicultural” Bellingham, so his point is not only bigoted, it’s actually factually untrue.

It amused me he still wears dental braces…
One more year to go and he’ll be allowed to celebrate properly! :joy:
Anyway, the athletes work so much and way beyond any norms and hours, that these rules seem a bit silly. Yesterday it was definitely Spain’s Day (although it was 14th of July).

Nothing wrong with it per se, although I admit sometimes it’s a bit weird seeing a European team like France full of Africans…

I’m just relieved that I don’t need to have all the pro-immigration/pro-multikulti propaganda shoved down my throat which would’ve been the case had England won.

Why do you then live in a country that has soooooo many foreigners? That really must annoy you…

I’d take the German labor law and its requirement for exceptions any time, than say, Burkina Faso or Somalia where child labor is free to be used and abused 24/7

Damn, we should have stopped the “Africans” from populating the European plain 200k years ago!

Definitely, just commented on the fines (if Spain was indeed fined).

The “shoved down my throat” people seem to align nicely with the “go out of my way to search for it” people.

Pro-Immigration?!? all the black England players apart from Guéhi (parents moved from Ivory Coast when he was one) were born in the UK. And in the case of Bellingham and others, their parents were also born there.

All, can we please agree that we WON’T be responding to kingkongs rubbish racists comments on every thread? This seems to make him happy, but more importantly, drives every thread into a ridiculous racist rant.

Players and sportsmen in general work a lot for their success, putting up with schedules and a discipline not everyone would be willing to adhere to, so their success is entirely their merit, regardless of where they (or their parents) come from.
If you or your child can’t do it, it doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t even try to achieve great things just because you “disapprove”…

The vast majority of immigrants here come from Europe though…
