any other ideas where can i exchange my money with good currency exchange rate?
On top of the exchange rate, I believe they charge a USD 50.00 or 1% fee, whichever is higher.
I think CS will do something similar. After 9/11, they stopped dispensing USD from ATM machines at Zurich airport.
Traditionally, I have paid extra into the CC, and then when in the US, used the CC to get USD from ATM machines.
HTH. Regards,
like in many other countries? https://www.travelex.co.uk/uk/wallet/options.aspx for example
i don't have dollar account, and i don't think it is good idea to make one just to exchange 1000 usd...
Let me know
Thanks
but i was just wondering is there any official way of doing it. i guess there is none? isn't it a little strange?
small country in the middle of eurozone, and we cannot exchange currency other than paying big comissions to a bank?
50 usd commision as someone mentioned, is quite a lot. especially that i decided i want rather small amount (300-400).
thank you for your offers, it is just annoying that i have to 'ask around' people to sell me money. I don't even know how to recognize if it's a fake or not.
Good Luck
p.s. To detect if a 100 dollar bill is good or not, tilt the note a bit and the color of number 100 should change from green to black.

as to commission it says:"Hinweis: Gratis für ZKB Maestro-Karte und Kontokarte, Transaktionsgebühr CHF 5.-- für Benützung mit Maestro-Karte CH"
witch means i will have to pay 5CHF if i don't have ZKB account (which i don't). still, no idea about current exchange rate... is it normal ZKB exchange rate or different? and i wonder if it supports postcard...
so it is like this in switzerland also!
really nice. (i have account at PostFinnance by the way)
thank you all for tips
