Expeida rant

after booked, find out, my name is not correct. so, i called them to revise my name. called at least 4 times, always told, air line company should do that, they are just travel agent, no right to do that. but air line company told, travel agent should do that. on the internet page of air line is written clearly, if not booked directly at air line internet page, then can only contact travel agent to revise personal information.

i told them, i want to cancel this booking. but he told, then i can only get my tax back. what a shit. they are mafia?

How did they get your name wrong? Did you show them some ID?

As to only taxes back, yes, can happen if you buy a non refundable ticket

Oh, expedia. Which means you typed in your name?

i typed wrong when i book. after i booked, i realized, so i contacted them. ...

Unfortunately then, if it's a non refundable ticket, I guess you are screwed. I always triple check all details before I hit that confirm button.

it is not cheap. from Barcelona to Zürich, just one way, cost over 250CHF.

it is not writte: non refundable

i booked it 3 weeks in advance. why not allowed to revise name? why not allowed to cancel? still 3 weeks, they can sell...

Ok, how bad did you screw up the name?

I've messed up the forename/surname once and didn't have a problem in the airport. If you just misspelled, or messed the order of the letters should also not be such a big problem.

But from the way you are talking it sounds more like you wrote Mary instead of John?

It all depends on the small letters in the booking.

Revising a name will cost you, most likely. Cancellation is not always possible without some loss of money on your side.

Unfortunately it is right. Non-refundable tickets are sold cheaper, a refundable ticket would have been at least double that price.

cheap price is double ways CHF 177.

i wrote my given name first, later at last name, i write my given name / last name. so my given name is double.

no matter how, they should tell me a solution clearly. but every time just tell will check, then no more updates.

every call takes about half hour, always need repeat the whole travel plan, quite a few questions, that has no relation with my name.

finally i read in internet, some people said, it costs to call. anyhow, wait and see if it costs.

their behavior sounds like cheating. i shouted to that shit man: your company is mafia or?

So (example) You wrote 5469 5469 instead of Lily 5469

Your attitude and knowledge of English language is not the best combination of getting things done.

no, as i wrote, given name is double.

so, if correct is lily5469, then it is written lilylily5469

If your flight is in the schengen region, it will be treated like a domestic flight, so they will not check your ID against the boarding pass.

i describe myself very clearly. by the way, i talked to them in german. no relation with english.

they just not want to help, but try to keep the calling longer.

that is all..

Personally I would not be to concerned for such. You can call the airline company if this will be a problem, and add that the travel agency refuses to make a change.

(learned something today, thought a given name was a last name one would get through marriage )

if name is wrong, i even cant check in. they will not find my information in computer.

i have checked with swiss airline, they told, i must correct my name on booking.

given name is first name, same as Vorname in german.

last name is same as familiename in german.

https://ch.trustpilot.com/review/www.expedia.de

look, Expedia is really shit. i should check internet first before i book on Expedia.

last time for me, no more Expedia.

So you're saying that if your name was John Smith you booked it as John John Smith? Within Schengen I don't see why they won't allow you to check in, unless of course it;s because you've already made them aware that the name is wrong and they are playing it by the book now.

If it had been me I would have just turned up at the airport and smiled sweetly telling them that my very blond girlfriend booked it and it's clearly just a mistake.

Yes, just book direct with the airline, these cheap booking sites are rarely much cheaper

it is decided by computer, not person.

if they cant find that ticket in computer with my name, then cant print out ticket.

So why not ask them to print out the ticket in the slightly wrong name?

There are certain things airlines do not permit travel agents to do once the ticket has been booked and paid for. One of these is name changes. Most airline tickets cannot be transfered to someone else. This is a 'very big deal' for many airlines.

Some airlines, such as Easyjet and Ryanair do allow transfers but they charge a fee for this.

It is unfortunate that the airline representative told you to go back to the agent, as that is likely to be incorrect. However most reservations staff would not have the necessary authority to make a name change. Likely only a supervisior has the necessary computer credentials.

Also, you almost always can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Your strategy of insulting people or their company didn't work for you.
