Experience with extending C permit while unemployed?

Hi All,

I am a EU national nearing the end of my current C permit. At the moment I happen to be unemployed (after working for 10+ years in CH) . I am OK financially (which can be demonstrated) and have never received any social assistance.

Should I expect difficulties getting my C permit extended?
It is supposed to be a “permission to settle”, so logically it should not depend on the employment status? Is it really so?

I would especially appreciate reactions from those who have been in a similar situation.

Many thanks!

It’s sometimes something I wonder about too. And while I haven’t been in that situation, the last time I checked, I concluded it should not be a problem. Issues might arise if you are using a lot of Social Assistance (different from unemployment insurance money).

Thanks, that’s sort of what I am gathering from my googling…
I do know for a fact though that the form one needs to fill in order to get an extension does contain a question on the employment status, and a copy of the contract is requested, but how do they use this information and how important is it for their decision? That would be really good to know.

I don’t remember anything about that. I seem to remember just having to go and do biometrics as I was converting from paper version to card version as a newly non-EU person (UK Brexit).
