For a start, you have to register with them to see more than the first few lines of any job ad. Fair enough, so I registered. Only to realise that even once registered, you can only see a small percentage of the available jobs without upgrading to some kind of privileged status that requires payment.
To me, making unemployed people pay for the privilege of looking for work is very dodgy indeed in ethical terms.
Given all the alternatives available, I don't know why anyone would stick with Experteer long enough to figure out if they can actually deliver.
I found Indeed.co.uk (indeed.ch here) to be a useful and free aggregator site. Especially if you are looking in multiple countries. The iPhone/pod app is simple and useful too.
direct-jobs.ch is also a fairly authentic site especially if your are looking for jobs in CH. You need to subscribe, however your can try for free for the first five days.
I followed the EF "Jobs" link to experteer - it does seem a bit of a con. I know EF has to be paid for somehow but does it really have to via such an exploitative advertiser?
There seems to be a problem with the EF filter when looking for IT.
With no filter there are many more Monster and other jobs in the first pages. With the IT filter, you only get 9 pages which feature about 90 percent of Experteer jobs with a few old ones tagged on the end page from other sources.
Is this a bug or is it "paid for"? (or just me?).
I would also never pay for job info. Possibly I have never been that desperate though.
My mate invented jobserve.com with another friend, many moons ago and he made an enormous amount of dosh without ever charging anyone - except agents - to advertise. That was probably the original internet job site and was just for IT jobs, in a much smaller market that nowadays.
Experteer and many others basically copied the jobserve idea without the morals that it was originally designed with. (IMOHO).
I have found all my work through jobserve in the that last 16 years or so.
This is how I ended up in CH since 1998 (cheers jobserve )
Deleted my experteer account as soon as it asked me to pay to see a listing. A listing easily found elsewhere. And at the same time to pay to respond to a headhunter.
I would recommend not even using it. They are so annoying. You get contacted by a headhunter but you have to pay them so that you can respond to the headhunter. Its very predatory.
