EXPORTING car from Switzerland to USA

When I depart Switzerland (and return to the USA) I'm considering taking my car with me.

Has anyone done this and can point me in the proper direction to start my research.

WHY take my car -- the car is NOT sold in the USA and I really like the features it has.

Hey, there's a bunch of small companies in CH dedicated to import the models people want. You may start by contacting one of them. These companies offer to handle customs and transport.

The irony is that one of this business close to my place has the lot full of Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers

As an aside, why are there so many US cars here in Switzerland compared with, for example, the U.K?

The reasons given for the lack of a market in the UK equally apply to Switzerland - more so in the case of narrow, windy roads and small parking places.

The lower cost of fuel is the only factor in favour.

I think people can afford to have a 2nd, 3rd or nth car.

Road and parking place sizes don't matter that much. Yes, a Camaro is larger and heavier than Citroen C1. However, that Camaro is also 20cm narrower and 300kg lighter than a VW Transporter. A comparison with a typical mobile home (MB Sprinter, Fiat Ducato) is even ridicule. The point is that people in CH regularly drives HUGE vehicles in narrow and windy roads without any issue. For some reason big and heavy European vehicles are not regarded as such, the only fat ones are American cars

Back to OP, cannot recommend a car importer because never made business with them. I've visited only to look at the cars. One of them has a Saleen modified Mustang. Interested in the reference? I guess is as good as anything you find on the web.

I'm looking to EXPORT my car from Switzerland and take it to the USA.

My car is not sold in the USA and I want to take it with me.

As far as I am aware it will be a real hazel as it is not DOT approved. The days of easy Japan or Europe imports are long gone.

For a starter browse the CBP website: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-impo…/importing-car

Possible if you only use it as artwork or for racing or parts, no chance of it being road legal.

UGH, that stinks.... Thanks
