Exporting my car to EU country before registering it in Switzerland

I found some similar topics, but I couldn't find the one I have in my mind, so I'll raise it below.

I moved to Switzerland this year and I brought my car with me as a household effect. I filled in both 18.44 and 13.20 for the car. Obviously, I have 1 year to register my car there, but since it's an older car (> 10 years), I'm not going to do that. Due to that, I haven't registered it in Switzerland (don't have Swiss plates) and I would like to get rid of it before 1 year.

I assume that I have 2 options in here. I can either sell it in Switzerland or try to sell it in my home country - Poland. I guess that in second option I might be charged by the customs and I would need to report it anyway.

My question is: do you know how much they could charge me? Would that be treated exactly the same as any other export, even though I haven't registered it in Switzerland?

Did you export the car when moved out from Poland? If not then I guess you wouldn't need to pay import fees as most probably Polish authorities think the car is still in the country. Why don't you check the status of your car with the Polish transport office (or the equivalent office). Just some thoughts...

I moved with my car to Switzerland from Poland. I got 15.30 on the border since I owned the car for less than 6 months, I spent ca. 9 months here and decided to finally pay customs fees and register car in Switzerland.

To the best of my knowledge, Polish authorities had no idea that my car was ever registered by Swiss customs. And I see no way how they could learn that. Until I decided to get Swiss registration plates, they had no idea that where the car really was.

Very likely it would be like the car never left Poland at all.

I don't know what you have to do on the Swiss side though.

I declared my car as a part of my household effect. You're right, polish authorithies definitely think that the car is still in Poland, so I probably won't have to pay anything. The only thing is that I need to report is somewhere in Switzerland that this car would be leaving the country.

I had a very similar situation, but I just want to get rid of the car outside the Switzerland (in Poland). I guess I just need to report it somewhere here and then just make sure that car leaves the country.

You brought your Polish registered car into Switzerland.

Declared as part of your personal effects.

You have had car in Switzerland for less than a year and not registered it in Switzerland.

You now wish to return to Poland to sell it there.

All seems in order and no idea what concerns you.

Well, that's what I'm thinking. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether I need to report it somewhere that I'm getting rid of that.

I will be in the exact same situation next year (imported motorcycle but not registered here). From what I have read so far, my assumption is that I have to do the same process I did for importing, only the other way around (export it from Switzerland and import it to the EU - Germany in my case).

When importing for free as pre-owned I went to the Swiss customs office at the border near Basel, then they sent me 5 meters to the German customs office to declare the export and then back to the Swiss office to finish the import.

Does anyone know whether there are some taxes to be paid for exporting back to the EU or what the procedure is?

Just to share an update regarding this one, in case anyone is in the same situation.

I just had to hand over 13.20 form to the Swiss customs, exactly the same one that I got a year before. I didn't have to pay anything and the entire procedure took around 2 mins. They definitely wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible, I think I've interrupred their coffee time :-)
