I have extra wide feet(D) and am unable to find my right size, chkd all possible stores, I need atheletic sports shoes, tried online as well but most site give only length size, not the width. Any suggestion as to where can I get it in Switzerland?
You can check out Vamos.ch - not sure if you are male or female, but extra wide is usually E. In the US, women‘s wide is D. Here, I’m not so sure. Vamos uses a whole different rubric - normal is like F or G and wide goes from H to M.
I do have wide feet and generally find New Balance women‘s D to fit me. Those I buy off amazon, usually from the Uk, though and pay a premium. I also buy a lot of Clark’s in wide, again from the UK. Those aren‘t athletic shoes though.
Have you tried physical stores? Transa or stipes (Not sure if that’s the correct spelling).
D isn't 'extra wide'. I'm a G and have no problem finding shoes to fit here. Try Dosenbach for normal shoes and boots and put 'damen weite' in the search feild. Also try SportXX for sports shoes. If you find women's sports shoes too narrow, just buy the men's versions, though most styles are unisex now. I bought some Brooks Ghost 11 several months ago and they've been amazing.
F-G-H-k-l-m is one, and G is probably equal to D. Geox, for example, is a basic G.
The US and maybe the UK use A B C D E, etc.
It‘s confusing and not always standardized.
For new balance, the standard woman‘s (medium) is B and wide is D. My understanding is that many shoes in Europe operate on D/G as standard width. I find that European d/g is sometimes too narrow.
Try zalando - one of the many filters is for width. I use the french-language version of the swiss site for which I need to filter by "largeur" and then "large". It gives me 1451 articles to chose from.
Thanks to all of you for your inputs, I have tried all the possible stores but unable to find the right size, probably should ho with european size denomination, n not US one!!
I am afraid I am also cursed with large feet (49.5) which has caused problems in the past.
Luckily I am usually able to find one or two things on Zalando or Amazon these days, but in the past I had to go to specialist shops. I think you will find a good selection of what you are looking for here, at Stauffacher in Zurich...
They seem to lean toward barefoot shoes but do advertise classic hiking shoes etc as well. They claim to have 'the largest foot-anatomy-shoes assortment in Europe'! I haven't been to this store myself, but it's in Uster so pretty close to Zurich.
