Lately I've been drinking too much caffeine and having too little sleep and because of that my eyes are kinda red and tired.. Back in my country I used eye drops that were no medicine but just refreshing and help lessen the redness on the eyes..
Sadly, I thought I'd pack them with me when I came here but I didn't so now I'm off to search for a remplacement here... Any ideas?? I'd appreciate a lot your help...
In my defense.. I have a cold and due to cough and a bit of fever I've been having very rough nights.. I also get red eyes when I have allergies.. hence my usual drops back at Mexico City with the incredibly bad pollution air... Thankfully I don't seem to get that kind of allergies here.. and with the lateness of spring maybe I won't get any allergies at all
But I do realize that this thread looks very suspicious (hell.. I'd be suspicious too!!). So please don't lynch me while I'm at this...
Edit: I'm so sleepy at work that I swear that it took me a while to understand the last sentence... Caffeine has a limit when you include cold medicines and bad nights.. I swear I can't wait enough for the long weekend to start...
Unless your eyes are red because you do smoke cannabis, you actually should see an eye doctor to be sure that you're not suffering from something more serious than being tired.
While the "get the red out" type drops do make your eyes appear less red, they don't actually fix whatever may be causing them to become red.
Most people who have the symptoms you describe really only need to get some sleep, spend a lil less time in front of the computer and give their eyes some time to relax. Sometimes though, it's more serious, or requires (fairly simple but possibly requiring a prescription) moisture-therapy eye drop or salve, which is why it would be a good idea to have things checked out.
Get some sterile saline solution from the pharmacy. Naaprep is marketed for nasal use but it works for the eyes as well. Clears up conjunctivitis so it should take care of red eyes as well.
I don't smoke cannabis so I think that maybe I'd check them out.. The redness has only been happening for a couple of days, as before they were pretty perfect, hence my inclination to think that it was mostly due to a lack of sleep..
Hopefully this long weekend will help me recover sleep hours and the whiteness on my eyes (today I must admit that they look much better..)
Update... I found out what caused the red eyes: my eyeliner from Lancome.. I don't usually wear inside eyeliner but on Friday I decided to glamour up and use it.. Oh hell.. two hours later my eyes were so red that it looked like I was crying... On Saturday they were the same so I went to the pharmacy and bought Similasan drops (now I have them on my bag all the time!), by the end of the day my eyes were a bit clearer but sitll bothered me so I went to another pharmacy and bought another drops (can't remember the name though ) it wasn't cheap but I guess this means I have quite sensitive eyes...
So thank you so much for your help.. I hope I'll never need them again but I'll keep you posted.. I'm still going to the doctor because I'm not sure it's normal the way my eyes were I looked like a high yellow red eyed demon... (priceless the look at the man's face at the pharmacy)
