Eye test in Thalwil or Zürich

Where can I go for an eye test in Thalwil or Zürich? From what I understand, I need to do one of these as part of the process for swapping my American drivers' license for a Swiss one. How long do they take and how much should I expect to pay? Is this stuff usually covered by health insurance?

Thank you!

I just did this Wednesday - I went to the Visilab at Sihlcity and brought my partially completed form for the switching of drivers licenses. The technician spoke English so it was pretty easy. The test lasts about 5 minutes and cost 10 chf there - it is not comprehensive but covers the highlights. He filled in the bits he needed to on the form, I went on to the driver office a few stops down, and the license came today.

So, any eye place can probably do t, and it won't be expensive. I've heard if you have a recent prescription, you won't need an exam or have to pay but I couldnt find mine so can't verify.

When I did mine I went to one of the opticians on Gottardstrasse in Thalwil. It was very quick, about 15 minutes. I can't remember how much it cost but it wasn't a lot.

I got mine done at the Koch Optik in Thalwil right by the Zentrum bus stops. Took about fifteen minutes and didn't cost much (about CHF 20, I think).

Any optik shop has that service, just bring the license exchange form with your name filled in, they all know what to do. It costs about 20.-

When I went to an optician for that test I was surprised to know that my eyes are not as strong as they used to be and apparently I need glasses... I payed quite a lot for lenses and assembling but they didn't charge me for the test (since I ordered my glasses there).
