Also, any advice as to which ticket I should get for Monza wouldn't go amiss!
Grandstand at first chicane would be best (on outside of track).
My experience of Monza is that the circuit is a very long walk from the station!
As for the track, if you're going as GA there's actually a small concrete grandstand on the exit of 11, however the live action is quite boring there. There is a great view to the monitor though, and easy access for the post race podium rush. 1st chicane will have lots of passes due to DRS, but Monza is a tight course. I think that for GA perhaps Asacari would be the best, as you can get a seat in GA head on looking at the cars approaching the chicane.
Advice: wear comfortable shoes, the walk is long from the bus stop (if you bus from the Monza train station). Food/beer isn't too expensive on site, but you can easily go with some extras if you please.
What we did last year is take a phone and listen to BBC radio for commentary because it was essentially watching monitors without sound (we were inside 11 exit). Supposedly there's lots festivities throughout the evenings if you camp (Italians are quite a pleasant bunch).
Train to Milano is the best way to get there, then you can get a B&B in Milano for cheap and train to Monza + bus to circuit.
Have fun!
plenty of tickets avaiable but you're now paying for one day what I paid for 3. Head for 8* or 6*, they're good locations.
If the weather doesn't change, bring a bin liner or 5!! It'll be a wet race unless summer arrives
Also, I've read that it's a long long walk to get to the track, but I read that there's a bus that'll take you straight to the track from Lesmo station (you will have to pay for a bus ticket, it's not the free one). Does that sound correct?
Cheers!!
As for the tickets, I liked the GA. I don't know if grandstands would have been better. I think if I were to GA again though, I would camp and buy lots of food and stuff for the day.
Regardless of where you go, find the right spot to get on the track after the race! Near the inside apex of 11 is a good spot from the infield, they open a gate and you can just run to try and get some champagne on you
There is a bus stop that is ~300 meters from the track, but I am not sure whether from that entrance you can access all sectors.
This is the service from the race track. Somehow the prices here are better then the ones at F1.com (I would expect them to be the same). Moreover, monzanet is offering some tickets at discounted prices.
Being my first time I wasn't sure which seat to buy. This website has some good tips: http://www.enterf1.com/italian-grand...o-sit-at-monza
But the Customer service from the race track (phone number is on the website) was very helpful also.
Children under 11 don't pay on General Standing. And on any other area, they pay only the difference between the G. Standing price and the desired seat price. However, this can't be done online, you can only benefit from the children arrangement buying at the entrance. Customer Service explained that there will always be available tickets to buy at the race day but of course depending on availability it might not be everywhere and could also be that seats are not together.
We decided to go to 21e which is discounted from eur 165 to 100, and seem to be Ok from the tips I got.
I was also told that, although the noise level from the engines has decreased, it's still important to wear earplugs, especially for smaller kids. F1 is the main race of the day but there are also other races going on, so they advised to arrive as early as 9:30h to enjoy the day. Honestly I am not planning to spending so many hours there, but on the other hand, the closer it gets to the F1 race time, there will be more crowd and traffic.
Finally, there are several entry points to the circuit and the walk could be longer depending on that.
Weather is currently forecasted to be sunny during the race day.
Looking forward to it!
I am actually looking forward to it now...
+1 for the buying tickets on the track website rather than F1. I got BURNED on this one, ended up spending about 100 EUR more
What did I find? It was hot, you need sunscreen. The turbo cars at the end of the straight means you hear what sounds like a rocket arriving and then the bang-bang-bang down the gears to get around the corner.
Next year, I'm going around the back - there were lots of slip-ups at Ascari today and Lesmo might be a good passing point.....but a long walk!!
Parking I found with the bike to be easy. Traffic today was terrible but the police don't care about you making progress.....it's the way to do it
Loved it. Highly recommended spot.

I'm tempted by Parabolica and Ascari. But there was lots of action on those first bends........
