Fabric Softener?

I am looking for liquid fabric softener to add to the wash machine. I bought at Coop yesterday this:

Gewebeveredler

Revitalisant textile

Ammorbidente

I tried to google translate and it is not giving me anything but a finisher.... anyone help with what I bought and how it's supposed to be used if nto fabric softener and also what is fabric softener called?

Thanks!

Not sure what is it you bought but I buy fabric conditioner that I recognise from home like Lenor!

I've struggled to find fabric softner here too so hope someone can help with this thread... Kathryn

Hi

Ammorbidente is the italian for fabric softner so you have bought the right product. Just add it as you normally would.

I believe Weichspüler/Adoucissant/Ammorbidente is fabric softener, isn't it?

for example, you can go to the coop online store

http://www.coopathome.ch/

and look under haushault and reinigigung/ Waschen / Textilpflege/

the term you want is Gewebeveredler - although I think there is another word too. - brands like comfort, lenor. My favorite is an "organic" one by Held - it's hard to find in all but the larger Coop stores. It smells a little of anise and is very light. I also use a bit of household vinegar (putzessig) in my rinse cycle, especially since I don't use fabric softener with towels - either bath towels or dish towels - it reduces absorbency. Also don't use it when I'm washing silks because it can spot them.

edited to add:

Weichspüler - that's the term I wanted - literally soft rise, I think.

What you bought is a fabric softener indeed. Weichspüler is another German word for Gewebeveredler . You may find it on the labels of other makes.

Addendum: Possible other French words to look for are adoucissant and assouplissant . Languages being complicated in this little country? You bet!

I absolutely LOVE this fabric softener. It smells so good and doesn't irritate my skin at all. I have terrible allergies and sensitivities and this is a good one if that is a concern for you.

It's available at Coop for 5.50 or on www.leshop.ch for 5.95. Softlan has many other scents as well. Enjoy!

Hello! where do you find the brand Comfort ? I used to use it in Portugal and here in Zurich I can't find it. What Coop are you refering to? Thank you

Coop is one of the two major super markets in Switzerland, the other is Migros (not sure if that's your question?)...

Sometimes you may need to visit a few to get a feel for which carries what, as they tend to stock them with a little attention toward anticipated likes for the area - easily enough done depending on your location, sometimes there are only a few blocks between Coop stores.

If you're looking for something specific, and don't mind a possible longer trip, head to one of the larger locations, you'll be more likely to find "everything". Alternately, check their online shop (Coop@home), usually this will show all the products they carry, sometimes things which may not be stocked at any of the locations near you.

Looking at coop@home, under "Haushalt and Reinigung" - then "Waschen / Textilpflege - then " Gewebeveredler" , and you should see the products available through Coop (and Comfort brand fabric softener is among them).

Of course, Coop@home has option to view in English, but what fun would that be?

You can get comfort softener in Müller aswell as Co-op! I've never even tried any of the swiss brands!

What???

You haven't? You're missing out!

I really like this one :

Although perfume free would be better (terrible itchy skin prone to eczema in winter), the almond milk smells nice and isn't as bad as more flowery ones.

Persil + Lenor for me. That what fresh laundry is supposed to smell like according to my head

No if i can get anything i used to use at home i'll take it!! I was just up in Denner earlier today and they comfort on special offer! They have some pretty sweet deals on shampoo and shower gel up there aswell incase anybody wants to stock up!

I always used fabric conditioner before moving to Switzerland, but haven't used it here at all.

I honestly haven't noticed any difference in how clothing etc feels, even towels.

I buy mine at Denner. They usually have good deals on their own brand product as well as brands like softlan or lenor. I always take a smell before I buy (if I buy one I don't know yet).

Rea;;y?! I see such a difference when i don't use any! Our clothes don't feel half as nice at all!!

To be honest I started using softener here in Switzerland, because the water is so hard. Ecologically softeners are very bad for the environment. And I don't use softener for towels because they don't dry you any more and that is something I really hate. They are soft enough from the dryer.

We use the one from Landi, i can't remember the name but it is Chf3.00 for 3 litres and works well. But the wash powder from there is not so good.
