Family reunification process - Ticino

I know this seems like a very basic question, but I’ve looked at the forms and they don’t make sense to me either way  - hoping someone can assist.
I’m living here on a B Permit as an EU citizen.
Husband is third-country, and wants to move here.

For family reunification, who is the requestor? Is it me, as the person already living here, or him, as the person who wants to move here?

Reasons for my confusion:

  • the form asks for the AVS number. To me, this indicates that I should be the one filling it out (because obviously he won’t have this, since he doesn’t live here yet)
  • the form also asks ‘do you already hold a Permit?’ This indicates that HE should be the one filling it out, otherwise obviously why would he be requesting a permit if he already has one…?
  • on the last page, it also summarises the following: my arrival in Ticino: 1st July 2022 (this is MY arrival date). Type of stay: reunion with spouse. This isn’t logical - my arrival in Ticino was not related to my spouse as I moved here alone.

Thanks as always, you helpful bunch :heart_hands:

It’s you since you’re the one who has to prove you can financially support him and also that your accommodation is big enough for both of you.

He will need to apply for a Type D visa at the embassy/consulate in his country of residence; that will be matched up with your application for family reunification.

That depends on his nationality, some nationalities are exempt from this so they need to double check this. If he is a UK national for example this is not necessary as there are agreements in place between Switzerland and the UK and the same is true for other nationalities.

Thanks for the clarification, I hadn’t heard of this. He is indeed British so seems to be off the hook for this one.
