Frankenstein in theory should take place around Geneva, so it is in the original novel of Mary Shelley. But I can't think of a Frankenstein's movie filmed there
One of my favorite films casting Micheal Caine and Steve Martin as the main charachters, glimpses some spectacular shots of the Belle Vue in Zürich. Which one is it?? Answer: "The two dirty rotten scoundrels"
"Escape to Victory" ??
End scene. Steve McQueen jumping the fence into Switzerland.
What, "Escape to Victory"!!!!! That was "The Great Escape" .......
true true. hehe
I know that the baddies in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were based in Switzerland....
At one point one of them calls his mother on the mobile 'phone and talks pure Schweizerdeutsch.
Cheers
Jim
There are no mountains around the swiss-german border, which basically runs along the Rhine. I doubt that part of The Great Escape has been filmed at the swiss border, the landscape just doesn't match
I don't know where Inkheart was filmed of if they ever mention a location but Brendan Fraser drives a VW Combi with Zurich license plates.
i couldn't help noticing that the zurich HB they showed was fake.
Has anyone mentioned yet that Bond film that was filmed up in Schilthorn (On Her Majesty's Service, or something)
Correction : "On Her Majesty's Secret Service ."
Yes, me.
Two of the movies are available (legally) on youtube.
The Swiss conspiracy:
Inspector Clouseau
Not great movies but it is interesting to see what Switzerland looked like respectively in 1976 and 1968.
Nobody has mentioned any of the dozens Bollywood movies shot here / being shot here.
Any fans here?
The final sequence in the recent "Duplicity" with Julia Roberts had the characters trying to sell a worthless formula to investors in Switzerland, who spoke Schwitzerdüütsch.
Surely, almost every other movie these days, if you dont mind me exaggerating a bit. Never found any info on the locations though...
If not 100% Swiss, the end is at least in the direction of Switzerland...
The opening scene of Golden Eye was filmed in Lugano's Verzasca Dam. You can even do the jump yourself for 225 CHF, though you need more than just balls of steel.
One more oddity. Alain Delon and Marianne Faithfull.
The girl on a Motorcycle. Shot in Switzerland and Germany.
Delon has a cool Norton Dominator!
I like that movie but talk about stereotypes. The Swiss are stiff, pompous, and not very bright!
I was unfortunate enough to catch a bit of The Pacifier with Vin Diesel the other night. Some of the characters visited a bank in Zurich, but the bankers spoke French - school boy error!!
