filo or philo pastry in Lausanne

Anyone know of a shop in Lausanne selling filo pastry?

Gul Market doesn't have any.

Well, I have bought philo paste in COOP, maybe give it a try?

I've never seen it in Switzerland.

(and no, Blaetterteig/pasta sfoglia isn't the same thing)

Tom

Coop has started selling Filo pastry in Bern. (No I do not refer to thicker Blaetterteig/pasta sfoglia, paté feuilles)

Frozen, or refrigerated?

Tom

Don't know what it's called in French, but in the German part of CH Migros sells "Strudel-Teig" - extremely thin pastry sheets used for making, well, Strudels. You can find it in the refrigerated section where they sell the puff pastry, ready-to-bake bread etc.

Exactly, also in Coop, Filo pastry! OK, it doesn't say Filo on the wrapping, but we are all abroad now, and the natives don't write English.

The larger coops also have filo in the Balkan part of their international section (can't remember what it's called). It comes in long packets in a roll. I have used it often, but actually prefer the strudel teig because it's fresher and easier to unroll even though it comes in smaller sizes, which is not so good for a large pan of baclava or spanakopitta.

The globus delicatessa carries frozen philo dough in bern. It's very nice, quite fine. About chf 10 for a box. Perhaps there's one in Lausanne as well?

I can't remember the brand, but the box is gold-yellow

I once bought philo in a migros, also in Bern in the refrigterated dough section - but it was rather thick. I've seen the philo in the coop in the international section, but haven't used it.

Perhaps a turkish or other specialty market.

Thanks so much for all the helpful answers.

I can't believe how quickly everyone has responded.

I'm sure I'll now track down the elusive filo somewhere.

Migros sells it here in Basel, it is called Filoteig. It is in brown and cream packaging and is with all the other pastries in the fridges.

yes it is in the same section (refrigerated) but it is definitely Philo, I got it last year and have seen it again two weeks ago. Maybe find a big Coop or Coop City? The stuff is imported though from somewhere in Western Europe, and it is yummy!

it seems to me that i need to bring lots of filo boxes from greece!!!

Yes it's called pâte feuilletée.

You can really find it in any Coop or Migros in the fridges where they sell breakfast buns and cake dough.

Also they have the already baked puff pasties thta you can fill. But they are really dry. I do not recommend

Agreed, to be avoided.

Sorry but, no, that's not what it is.

Thanks to someone else on EF I have found filo in the Coop.

Thanks for trying to help anyway.

I can see the OP managed to successfully buy filo pastry.

Just in case anyone else is struggling, I bought some filo pastry yesterday from the Coop in Saint François in Lausanne.

It's in the refrigerated section, the brand name is 'Croustipate' and it says ' feuilles de brick' on the wrapper.

So: ''feuilles de brick' = 'filo pastry' in French!

I can confirm that Feuilletee is not filo pastry. Just tried to make an apple strudel with it. Disaster.

I just got some from the exotic food section in a big COOP. It has the word Baklava on the package so that is a vote of confidence. This will be my first attempt, and I'm already drooling!

Filo pastry and brick pastry are not exactly the same even though they are similar and somewhat interchangeable for most recipes! I saw both at the Migros in Chailly. Brick pastry can be bought online from Migros leshop.
