Finally, Swiss Post is back as delivery service for Digitec Galaxus

Digitec Galaxus just announced the option to use Swiss Post as delivery service is back

I buy stuff online and get it delivered at home 3 or 4 times a year. In spite of the low count per year, I hate Planzer. No package was lost, but their system is awful. I work 4 days from home, anyway the driver of the van arrived when I was not there or busy during a call. Next, I had to call to re-schedule the delivery, sometimes more than once, and then just wait for the driver in a 4 hour window. Itā€™s almost like I worked for Planzer and had to be available for them at their convenience.

Compare this to Swiss Post system. Youā€™re not at home or donā€™t open the door, they leave a notification telling the package will be stored at the local post office for 10 or 14 days (I donā€™t remember exactly). At the time of your convenience, you show up at the post with this note and retrieve the package.

Yeah, I work from home, but I donā€™t work for the delivery service. Iā€™m more than happy to pay a few francs more for Swiss Post and not deal with Planzer and others like DPD ever again.

I think itā€™s been a while one could choose SP as a delivery service of choice. Iā€™ve personally never had an issue with Planzer and I am making orders a few times a month yet to be fair in my case itā€™s safe to deposit parcels near mailboxes inside the building on the ground floor.

Thank goodness for that.
Weā€™ve had a few things delivered by Planzer and there has only been one occasion when it has gone smoothly, every other time has had an issue.
Next day delivery promised for Tuesday arrived on Friday, not much use for the planned trip on the Wednesday.

Swiss Poste allows you to specify several alternatives if youā€™re not at home; I just have it set to ā€˜leave it by the letterboxā€™ where itā€™s under cover as a default. The only ā€˜complaintā€™ I ever have with them is that they sometimes donā€™t always issue an immediate notification, so I need to look down from the balcony to see if itā€™s been delivered. Expecting one today, as it happens.

Never had a problem with Swiss post, Planzer on the other hand is appallingly bad.

I wish all on-line retailers let their customers choose their method of shipping.

Is it just me, or is Galaxus getting more unreliable with itā€™s delivery estimations? Around 50% of my orders promised as tomorrow or day after tomorrow have been 1 or 2 days later.

Itā€™s not just you, weā€™ve noticed it too.

Itā€™s the first time I am actually having a negative experience with a delivery from Galaxus via Planzer.
Iā€™ve already received a notification ā€œNot delivered ā€“ A delivery card has been depositedā€ the 2nd time in a row for the same parcel, and Planzer has clearly not attempted to deliver it (our apartment building is getting deliveries on a daily basis, it is easy to enter it, and thereā€™s an intercom, not speaking about the mobile option).
Of course, thereā€™s no card in our mailbox (otherwise thereā€™d be a parcel I guess).
Has anyone encountered it, does it simply mean they are experiencing a delay? The message is confusing.
I think Iā€™ll start selecting SP only from now on as well.

I got a not-delivered notification from Planzer for a Galaxus order last month.

I found the parcel on top of the letter box on plain view to all passing in the street (it was small enough to go inside on the parcel shelf.

So yes, confusing, mixed messages from Pflanzer.

Then for you it was even worse, delivered but communicated as notā€¦

Placed an order with digitec this morning, it said blitz-delivery (which meant I would receive it tonight) and I thought ā€œyes pleaseā€!
Checked something in my address and then suddenly it said ā€œdelivery day after tomorrowā€. That is worse than a normal order which is delivered the next day! An Blitzlieferung was greyed out. Ba*****s.

I gave myself up to fate by now. Isnā€™t it amazing how used we got to this next-minute-reception expectation. I remember when it wook 3 weeks and more before an order would arrive.

I think it depends a bit on what you order. The items have to be reasonably compact and light, and be in their warehouse. As soon as you order anything else outside this category, it ditches the same-day service in the system.

I had it last week where I ordered 3 items, one was at another supplier so the same-day got greyed out. As soon as I deleted that item, same day became an option, and it worked.

all items said ā€œon stockā€. How did you know which one to delete?
Yeah well, if they really deliver the day after tomorrow itā€™s still really not bad.

I ordered a household device on Galaxus yesterday. It said that the delivery would be today. It was handed to the Swiss Post early in the morning, but the current delivery date in the Post app is tomorrow. I wonder, why was the delivery date estimation from Galaxus incorrect? Might be the upcoming holidays that caused the delay.

We donā€™t order from Galaxus/Digitec very often. One time, I placed an order for two of the same item, but since it was a bit bulky (L-size Karton), they shipped it in two separate packages at the same time. While both were in transit at a sorting center, only one package made it onto the van headed to our local post. Im guessing the postal worker thought: ā€œThe vanā€™s already full, the rest will go tomorrowā€. So, the second package ended up being delivered a day later than expected.
Also, make sure to place your order before the cutoff time or it wonā€™t be delivered the next day. Our delivery guy once told me that Swiss Post can experience delays during certain holidays (X-mas ā€¦) and busy shopping periods, which is probably whatā€™s happening right now.

I spoke to one of the post guys on Tuesday when he delivered a parcel and he said itā€™s a nightmare at the moment.
They have three to four times more parcels to deal with than normal in the run up to Christmas and despite taking on lots of extra workers theyā€™re struggling to cope with the volume.

Our local delivery centre currently has 4 post delivery workers off sick so the rest of them are picking up the slack. This was wasnā€™t one of the regulars on our round and he was delivering our mail at 14.55 that day as it was his second round of the day.

I wouldnā€™t like to be a postal worker at the moment. Or DHL or DPD driver either for that matter.

Do they get more money for extra work?

Technically. But humans have limits at some point.

In the last month Iā€™ve had to use the car to go to the office and a crash in the motorway make the 25 min drive become an hour and a half. Both times in the A1 motorway. This is a nightmare for deliveries.
