I'm finally trying to take control of my finances and hopefully save more ... is there a good financial software you can recommend? I only ask for very few requirements: works with Swiss banks English iPhone application Rule-based email updates e.g. transaction >= 500.-Sfr e.g. I found this Mint to be a good choice but for US residents only ...
Or ... know how to import the different export formats that each online banking system offers e.g. csv, excel, etc. Can't be too hard to do but I guess that would annoy end users i.e. export/import manually for each "sync".
I download my account details from my bank in CSV and use an Excel macro to save the data into a Quicken account details file. I then import this into my financial software of choice.
Unfortuantely desktop financial software is a thing of the past as both Microsoft (Microsoft Money) and Quicken have discontinued their respective products.
One of the main reasons folks in the US needed personal financial software was the delay between writing a check and when it was cashed. This delay did not exist in Europe so account balances were more accurate.
People mention some financial software for Switzerland there. Let me know if anything works for you.
I've been trying to find a similar software to save me the few hours I spend every month consolidating my transactions here in Switzerland. At present I use Google Spreadsheets and GnuCash. Let me know if you have any tips on doing this manually (with regards to efficiency etc.)
Update: I tried Banana Accounting 5 ( www.banana.ch ) recommended in the above thread: it's sufficient but doesn't have the time-saving data entry and transaction-categorization features of GnuCash.
I know this thread is a bit old, but I was wondering if the OP ever found a solution. I am in the exact same situation. I also tried Mint, but it is rather pointless without the connectivity that US users get.
