Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

You'll pay expensively for a Zürich based one for mediocre service.

I know a few expats who pay 1000CHF for shit service and still get a whcking great bill from the tax office.

I've never met Denise here but I'm satisfied:

One thing I remember reading somewhere (this thread perhaps?) was that I should get an accountant who practices in the same canton as I do, because cantons like it when forms are prepared by accountants in their districts. (And perhaps because accountants will be more likely to know canton-specific rules...). Eiken is in Aargau and i'm in Zurich - do you think this matters?

thanks for the suggestion in any case! I do definitely want to avoid expensive mediocre tax accountants...

I found my accountant on this thread - and he was very helpful and easy to deal with. 10mins and few emails. OK, so far he has not delivered my return to me, but he's only had it a day or two.

Anyhow, he also provided me with a checklist - very useful and made my gathering info dead easy. Hopefully the following will help someone.

[If he's rubbish, I'll let you know - but I seriously doubt that will be the case]

Sorry - Forgot to mention - it's around 250 - 300 chf

Even better, they prefer one in your Gemeinde (community).

I've just used Denise for the first time, she communicates well and charges a very competitive and fair rate. And she is not in my Gemeinde nor Bezirk

Mr. Martin

pm for details

He will do both American & Swiss

He will..? So it's not you..

no its not but I can recommend

But 2 recommendations 3 posts apart?

And using a hotmail email address?

he also has a hispeed address, are you interested as these question are not related, he has been doing taxes for a while now and because of his rate I decided to pass the info on to people who might be interested

No.

He's expensive compared to the treuhand I use.

A hispeed email address is also unprofessional for a company.

Sorry he works full time and has a office where he does accounting for small businesses. His rates are very reasonable for some people

OK - now my return is done. The bill is in. Exactly as expected.

To sum up my experience - excellent. So much easier than when I was in the UK. And his English is first rate. I'll be using him from now on.

Hello All

Anyone know of an American Tax Consultant who can help me file USA returns?

Thanks for all the advice

did you actually read this thread?

clue: start from the bottom and work upwards.

My wife and I have recently retired to Switzerland. We live close to Sion in Valais and would appreciate some advice on making our tax returns. I had thought that I would use a Tax Accountant, preferably somebody from Sion or Sierre.

Can anybody recommend somebody please?

Thanking you in anticipation

Georges

Dear All,

I urgently need information on two questions:

1) Can anybody suggest a firm (in lausanne area) that can file my tax returns for 2007? I do not speak French

2) Can I get a tax reduction if I am paying a student loan ?

I am an Indian working in swiss on B permit

Thanks in advance

Regards

Are you not taxed at source?

By the way, it is Switzerland. Unless you mean swiss airlines...

Can anyone tell me if there is a deadline for an employer to give their employee their annual earnings and withholding statement, i.e. W2 for US.

My wife has not received anything yet and has had much difficulty regarding her earnings/withholdings for the short few months she has been in Zurich . I am moving over in March and would like to file our 2007 US return prior to leaving.

Many thanks.

Hello, I am from UK and on a B permit. My family live in UK. I am told that I do not need to file in Switzerland as I am taxed at source. Is this correct ? Does anyone know a good tax advisor in Baselland or Basel ?

Thanks,

Grasshopper
