I have read most of the threads on Tax and I am still confused. Earn about 200K for annum and living in Canton Vaud. Moved about 6weeks and would like to know how much tax I will be paying excluding pension and other deductions. I got a B Permit, will I be taxed at the source? Please someone help me.
Cheers
There is usually a ceiling on earnings above which you have to submit a return, that is to say if you exceed it you have to submit a return rather than have the tax deducted at source. However, as always in Switzerland it depends on the canton.
I can recommend most highly, Luca Gliozzi of BDO Visura (gva) his number is 022 322 2472, he is au fait with the Vaud situation.

Under that, you apply for a source tax correction.
Very nice post, but it's been well covered elsewhere

Happy tax filing! Remember your US returns are due by June 15, 2008, if you are living outside the US or Puerto Rico!

Any advice appreciated
Jen
Our understanding is that as an independent (self-employed), you are legally obliged to declare this and the tax payable and AVS contributions need to be paid. Whether it is worth it or not is probably anly a decision you can make!
You need a reputable and legitimate independent financial adviser to talk to and we can certainly assist in that way.

Thank you. I do appreciate your reply.
I guess my question is, what sort of money am I going to be up for, when this more of a hobby than anything.I earn about 400 euros a month doing it.But,,,,,,,I enjoy doing it.
I want to be legal and the person I work for is insisting that I am able to evidence my legality.
I live in Geneva.
Some people say it is all very easy, .....you just go into the AVS office with your AVS card and they stamp it, and hey presto it is done. You possibly have more insight ,and the fact that you feel I need proper advice leads me to suspect it is not easy
Thanks, and look forward to your reply,
Jen
Does anyone know a good lawyer/accountant to go to for advice and help with this in my region?
Many thanks in advance.
I'm a UK national and have just moved to Switzerland and am working in Geneva on a B permit. I'm being taxed at source, less than 120k CHF pa.
I also have some income in the UK (rental and a bit of share dividends).
I also understand that I'm probably paying Church tax, which I would rather not
Can anyone recommend an English speaking tax advisor in Geneva who might be able to help?
