I have landed in Neuchatel and I am in hunt for an apartment. The situation is at least tragic ! I have already got 6 rejections and my options are very limited at the moment. I am looking for something closer to work (UNIMAIL) and train station (my other half will need quick access). I hoped I would move to a place by 1st of february but now this seems to be almost impossible. In one flat I visited there were around 20 people waiting outside and they handed applications and dossieurs at the door even before they step in and view the flat (totally mental!) .
I see that openings are on mostly on quartely basis e,g, now openings are for April. in meanwhile I need to find temporary accommodation and even that is a killer! I am not a student and most of the rented furnished rooms are mostly for students as far as I can see. any adivises?
Only twenty? Consider yourself happy that you don't search in Zurich, where the queue wraps around a block if an appartement is on the market. In desperate situations like that, giving your dossier without even seeing the appt is not mental, but normal.
Most people don't like to camp out under bridges :-)
Have you looked at an air b'n'b for a first step and to get yourself some time to find something beautiful? Maybe you'll also have to widen your scope. Good luck.
Compared to Lausanne, it is a doddle. But limiting yourself to close distance to the station does not help. There is a funicular from the bottom of town near the Uni up to the station- so that should help.
Isn't UniMAIL the faculty of science up at Portes Rouges?
In which case the funicular from the Jardin Anglais up to the station is not much use.
The best areas to look for easy access to both the Uni and the station would be along the number 7 bus route to Hauterive or out along rue des Sablons/rue de ka cote in the other direction if the OP doesn't mind walking from the station to the uni.
La Coudre and Hauterive would be the best options IMO.
Neuchâtel - A louer grand appartement de 4.5 pièces avec cuisine équipée, plafond mansadé, grand corridor, petit cagibi, salle de bain avec douche et...
Grrr advert said 'Neuchâtel' but it is in fact in the village of Fleurier! Annoying. Leaving it though, in case it may be of use to someone else. There are good train connections to Fleurier, the apartment is 2 mins walk from the station in quiet area- and rent is much much cheaper than in Neuch! 950 all in for a nice 4.5 room apt.
I have now seen some options and it looks better, however it seems that I will have to wait until April as the best options I found are not available until then. i still have not heard form agenacie about a few applications i sent. How long should i wait until I get a response? from landlords I had the "No" answer in two days.
I also viewed some flats at the city centre but I found them too dark. I am looking for decent place 2.5-3.5 bedroom no more that 1400 cc. Anywhere from city centre to the east of the city would work. as I will stay for at least a few years around I don`t wanna move somewhere and then having to move again...
thanks for your comments, Neuchatel in white is beautiful
