I got a 40 SFR fine for driving 52 km/hr instead of the permitted limit 50 km/hr. I strongly doubt their devices as I was closely tracking the velocity. Is there an appeal process for that?
As first step, I would request that they proof that they have a picture of my car, and a proof that their velocity check devices are regularly checked and maintained.
I don;t care about the 40 SFR (if I write an appeal, I would anyway waste effectively more than 40 SFR). It is really the essence now of their silly fines which matters and I would like to fight back.
Hate it when that happens, also a victim of 52 in a 50.
If they clocked you with a laser, then you were going 55, minus three for any differences and the result is fined. And that three km/h is a gift because the radar devices these days are quite accurate. This is not the states It is not that easy to fight the cameras. A photo is possible, but usually costs (though not sure how much, maybe someone here does know).
The fine is likely to be for 57km per hour - 5km grace. That is how it normally works here. My OH got done for what seemed like 1 km per hour - and it was actually 56 - 5 = 51.
There is no fighting it, it is the law, clear as a bell. Try if you wish, and you'll probably end with a much much larger fine. We all speed to some extent from time to time - and when you get caught - you cough up. End of.
How would you feel about having to pay CHF250 doing unknowingly 62kph in 50kph zone? Then forget to pay it while on holidays and eventually facing a bill of CHF500. HTFU, 40 chuffs is regular price we motorist pay. Add few parking tickets - that's life. Good luck with your appeal - I would really like to see it happen !
Yeah, I know, I got caught on the M25 (London) in and out of variable speed limits, changing for no apparent reasons. Cost me loads because I was late paying. Was driving a hire van, fine went to hire co who sent to our old UK address, who then forwarded to CH. A pain in the neck, but what is the point of wasting time and money on appeal. It's a fair cop.
I had some appeal recently for a parking ticket. There was really NO any parking in my area. I was searching for one for at least 45 minutes (though it was not the initial plan). Will report on the outcome...
Simply driving first time years ago in one of those inner city Zurich roads at night. Didn't realize it wasn't 60kph zone anymore Apparently one of those famous places where many get caught. My worst ever fine and there was not a single soul on the road or any sort of life endangering situation. Just a silly camera flash in middle of abandoned ghost city.
I call it Switzerlanded without any bad intentions
Please help sign our new petition to have the allowable speed tolerance in a built up area raised to 52.0002765 km/h and end the pointless suffering currently endured by the 52 km/h laser victims.
Laser cameras remove 3 km/h - older radar cameras remove 5 km/h due to less accuracy.
10 percent tolerance in your speedometer is only a rule of thumb. My old car had 14-15 km/h difference at 120 km/h. Whereas my new car has only 9 km/h difference at the same speed measured with the same GPS. So, actually, the speedometer of the car displayed a much higher speed than clocked by the laser/radar. My guess between 58 and 62.
