Fish of Lake Zurich

So not really a "pet" post... but it's animal related so thought it would fit here...

Does anyone have a list (ideally with pictures :P) of what fish there are in Lake Zurich?

I saw at least 5 different types on Tuesday, and am trying to identify them.

I think... emphasis on think :

These I'm pretty confident about :

- Pike

- Perch

These I'm not sure about :

- freshwater wrasse

- frogfish? big mouth and small tail...

- no idea what the last one was... looked like an eel, but the head wasn't that of an eel. Think it might be a burbot...

You might try googling on "Zürichsee Fischarten". This is one of the results:

Not sure if its comprehensive or not (in german)

Never dived Zurisee despite living near it for 7 years

Thanks! So it's

These I'm pretty confident about :

- Pike

- Perch

- burbot

- zander

Still no idea on the wide mouthed thing, but I'm happier now

Thanks!

At Wadenswil, Richterswil and other places along the lake, they have signs at the water edge with pictures and names of all the fish in the lake.

There is any site with all the wild animals that you can find in Switzerland?

Spread(word?) of a given species, includes a search for partial name (including Latin names): lepus.unine.ch/carto/

This interface for the same database lists species by geografical area, or species belonging to a given group (e.g. mammals) in a given area. So to get all fish sighted in Kanton Zürich use the following parameters:

- Fische

- Artenliste nach geografischer Einheit

- Kanton

- Zürich

to get a list of all mammals fish in the Kanton you've chosen

By clicking a link on the rightmost column you can also get a picture (bottom of the following page).

That hit the nail on the head!

Cottus gobio - European Bullhead That's the last thing I saw!

Thank you, mystery solved
