Hi,
I'm new to Switzerland, and still finding my way around
Zurich for shopping. This is not exactly 'food and drink' but
where would I buy fish oil, and what might be a good quality brand?
I'm also looking for vitamin D tablets - probably something
I can find in the same place as the fish oil. Is it better to
buy something like this online?
Thank you,
Paul.
You can get fish oil capsules from any pharmacy or reformhaus. Usually they sell halibut liver oil or cod liver oil.
Thank you Sandgrounder. I will check those places.
(Actually I normally try to bottle of fish oil, not capsules, for better
value. But obviously those are the right places to try anyway),
Paul.
I get mine from the pharmacy. They sell the full range of fish oil and vitamins but they don't come cheap. Must admit I've never seen bottles of cod liver oil on sale. Always capsules. I get the point about cost but what a price to pay for economy! I couldn't do it.
Hi Nev,
If you are thinking about taste, the brand of fish oil that I
used in the US was Carlson (I think it's a Scandinavian
company). It is a reputable brand, and there is a lemon
flavor version that does not taste bad,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
If you can't find what you need here, you can always order from the US and have them ship it here.
The following vitamin/supplement websites ship to Switzerland:
http://www.vitacost.com/
http://www.iherb.com/Default.aspx
http://www.vnfnutrition.com/
http://www.willner.com/
I've only ordered from Willner and had them ship here (I had to phone in my order, IIRC), without any problems, but the other three sites were recommended by American expats.
I've ordered Nordic Naturals fish oil from them (also lemon-flavored) and I also stock up when I visit the US on the huge bottles (250 gelcaps) of Spectrum Naturals fish oil from Whole Foods. Ditto for Vitamin D supplements
HTHS
Thank you, latigresse! That's a problem solved,
Paul.
Hi Peebix. Cod liver oil and lemon? Sounds more like a salad dressing!
Nope, it was straight fish oil, not cod liver oil. And it tastes OK but it would be a long time before I would ever try it as a salad dressing!
Paul.
