Flight tomorrow- asked to be 3 hours in advance???

Are you sure you have printed boarding cards? That's been one of the bottle necks and changes due to the pandemic. Depending on airline, destination, and covid rules this has changed. You would have to queue at the check-in desk for covid checks and boarding cards even if no luggage check-in.

If you want to be sure not to be stuck in a long line at security then pay Fr 10 pp for the Priority Lane service

If you are interested please note you can’t buy it on the day of departure. Al least the day before. ie Today!

Covid checks have been done on line and we have printed boarding cards.

So, has anyone got the definitive answer. If you have your Covid checks done on line and printed boarding cards, and only on board luggage- you go straight to check in/security- without going to EasyJet bag drop? Please.

Yes, no reason to go to bag drop.

Tuesday is traditionally the peak business flights travel day. Add extra security and I reckon 3hrs is about right.

Peak business travel is first thing in the morning, and early evening. 2 hours from the airport train station should be OK after 9 AM.

The key word there is ‘should’.

Personally I wouldn’t want to risk it if the trip was important to me. I’d make sure I had plenty of time.

OK, will get up at the crack of dawn and go over the mountain roads to avoid peak frontalier traffic! Thanks.

Well it doesn’t look like Jackie can change it now.

If I was checking in a bag, I’d say 3 hours would be about right. But since they only have cabin baggage they “should” be alright.

Taking the earlier train, so hopefully will be there in very good time! Probably far too early, but hey ho. Thanks all.

I normally check in on line and then print my ticket on paper. Is this what is meant by printed boarding "cards"?

Yes (or you could have an electronic copy on your phone)

Got the same email for GVA and LTN for a quick trip over last weekend. No specially bad lines, no problems, no extra security. Traveling hand luggage only and pre-checked in (which of course they already knew) and 1 hour would have been fine both ways.

Only thing I can think, is I know that they are having some IT issues with their website and this is preventing some customers from checking in on line. The only solution offered is to check in at a desk - which can only be done the same day of flight.

I am guessing this "3 hours" is to mitigate that, so if you don't need to go to a check in desk you could probably ignore it.

Do keep us updated Jackie. It could be useful for others although I suspect it is quite unpredictable.

No,it’s typical Corporate CYA. If they say an hours fine and it takes two they risk law suits. If they say 3 hours and it takes one, nobody is going to sue.

I’m not certain when easy changed their rule, but it used to be you cannot check in more than two hours in advance. I know this as I had been refused at two hours and a bit.

There will be times when 3 hours are needed and they lose nothing by telling everyone to be there three hours in advance.

And, by spending some money, you can get both shorter queues at checkin and security.

Jackie how was the airport?

I as flying from Geneva last week, the queue was shocking. I didn't really expect it. Apart from that I was used to the new quick security gate, where you don't have to unpack your hand luggage nor remove your belt, but to my surprise the airport reverted to using the old "traditional" security gates.

Yes, if you have checked in online no need to go to check in. I fly regularly from Luton or Gatwick to Schiphol with Easy Jet, they ask you to be there 3 hours before, I only have hand luggage and get there 2 hours or less before.

The extra time they want is for checking everyones paperwork pre boarding (Covid vaccinations and tests etc). That takes extra time and you'd be amazed how many people haven't done any tests or filled in relevant locator forms. The arguments I've witnessed from passengers who said they knew nothing about them - in every step of the booking process the airlines ask you to check that you have the correct tests for the country you're flying to.

It's these checks and arguments that can sometimes take extra time.
