Flying through Iceland and Luggage

Does anyone have experience with a stopover in Kefvalik International Airport in Iceland? I am flying through with a lot of luggage that I would like to leave at the airport somehow for the 2 day stopover that I have. Has anyone tried this or have advice on it? Thanks!

Are you flying on Icelandair? I flew through there with them 10 years ago. It was a nice break in the day, but didn't give much time for sleeping.

Transfers are easy there with Icelandair, and they have it down to a very precise science. And since most people are making connections, if something is running late to get in, they may even hold the other planes until it arrives.

Unless something has changed recently in the last few months, there are no facilities at all at Keflavik for luggage storage. I don't know how much you're lugging along, but you'll either have to take it with you or maybe you might try arranging storage with a nearby hotel if you're going trekking or something like that.

According to this link - no luggage storage or left luggage facilities:

Next to the airport, (500 meters) there is a place you can

store your luggage. See: on the bottom of the page:

"The luggage storage is located on Blikavöllur 5, 500 meters from the departure side of the airport. It’s in a 3 story high building and it says Geysir on the outside of the house. Opening hours are from 8 AM – 6 PM."

Other options:

You can arrange to leave your luggage at Motel Alex,

which is 2 minutes away from the airport. http://www.alex.is .

Another possibility is store it at the BSI Bus terminal. Two years

ago their cost was 500 ISK for first 24 hours, and then 200 ISK

for each additonal day. http://www.bsi.is
