I filed the tax returns for 2021 with the help of an accountant. I'm trying to file the tax return for 2022 by myself and I noticed that my ibkr account was included in securities list for last year.
AIUC this only affects the wealth tax and the total securities, including some cash, was 10k (so not a lot). What are my options now? Is there a way to correct this? How difficult is it to correct it? Should I do it myself or send it through the accountant?
I would declare them from 1.1.2022, and add a note that you actually acquired them in 2021, but omitted them off that tax return, along with the evidence of purchase.
Another option is to file a Rektifikat (corrected) tax return for 2021:
If the OP's 2021 tax filing has not yet been processed, a Rektifikat (corrected) tax return for 2021 can be filed listing the additional security. It would replace the previously-filed unprocessed tax return.
just call the tax office and they will tell you what the way forward is.
In my case for 3600 CHF (forgot to declare one account) they told me to not bother making a new corrected tax return and to just make sure that I dont forget it again next year.
I was in a similar situation, I had listed the securities but forgot to add the balance sitting in my ibkr account. I called the tax office, they told me if you have not yet received the final assessment you can just send us a letter informing us of this and we will just add it when we process it.
Update : I called up the tac office and told them I forgot to include the details. Since my assessment was not complete, I was able to email them the ibkr documents and they said they added the details.
