Formula 1

Unreliability issues, possible nerve damage and running out of spare parts. Not looking good for Aston Martin competing in Aus.

That was a good start to the season. An interesting race.

Will watch the replay later. The online commentary is pure hate, so curious.

Pretty good race. I reckon another few laps and Lewis would have got Charles.

But, Piastri, yikes! Also, seems like McLaren are the 4th fastest team at the moment.

Was pleasantly surprised by the race, perhaps my expectations were too low, but it panned out pretty well.

Yes, some mechanical gremlins - both Max and Oscar’s crashes were at least partially due to the new powertrains, I feel - and some learning in action as they get used to driving in race conditions with all the silly (yes, I still think it is) slow harvesting going on, but a lot closer than expected, and good to see that Ferrari are muh more competitive in race conditions than expected.

Aston’s Honda woes continue - I wonder how long before they switch to a power unit that actually works But cadillac put up a pretty good showing for their first time out.

Oh, and Kudos to Lindblad - not a bad showing for his first ever F1 race, racy but not lairy, showing good promise.

WHAT A RACE! Stoked for Kimi & Lewis. Lewis & Charles almost gave me a heart attack. Shame for McLaren.

This is starting to look like it will be a good season. That was an incredible race.
So happy for Hamilton.
Not really a fan of the new regulations and the lack of control the drivers have over the electric battery thing.

Couldn’t wake up early enough haha I started to watch on lap 20 or so.

Happy to see the new Kimi win. He almost cracks under pressure a few laps before the checkered flag, luckily it was on an asphalt run off area and not a gravel or grass one.

The polite battle between the Ferraris was entertaining.

Tires were dead in the last 10 laps: Leclerc and Hamilton stopped fighting. 15 laps before the end it seemed like Russel could catch up but tires said no. Same for Hadjar, less than 1 second behind Lawson and it grew to 5+ seconds by the end.

From the car development perspective…it will take a while to make the cars reliable again after new engine rules. The Papayas did not even start. Verstappen told to retire the car. Both Aston Martin out. Cadillac is so faaaar back that Ocon overtook Bottas and Perez with a broken side pod and damaged car floor. Ocon finished the race 8s ahead of Perez even after a 10s penalty in the pits :grimacing:

Did anyone notice, when they called Kimi onto the podium, they announced him as Kimi RƤikkƶnen :see_no_evil_monkey:

Newey is definitely staying, he just wants (or needs) to focus on his proper job.

Confirmed Wheatley leaving Audi with immediate effect! He must be mad!

It seems the problem is the team owner. Can’t commit to anything.
