Well, the Madring has been a complete failure. At this point, maybe they should ask for a refund.

Monaco 2.0

Boring, I started to work on the dinner, just listening to the race narration in the background.

I read Norris saying he didn’t understand why they’d made the track so bad either, but then he suggested a few tweaks that he thought would easily fix it.

His luck-out with the VSC/pitstop was the only tiny bit of interest in an otherwise entirely processional ‘race’. I even stayed up late to watch it on Ch4, having felt quite tired earlier in the evening; regretted that, for sure.

Race is on Saturday this weekend!

Thanks for the reminder.

FP3 earlier today, Kimi not comfortable in the street circuit and the winds. Russell 0.5 sec ahead.

Quite funny to have the qualification on a Friday, in 5 mins:

EDIT: quali ended at 15h15

Pressure won, Kimi touched a wall during Q1 and starts 16th. So, Russel to start in 1st position. Usual suspects (Ferrari, Mclaren, Redbull) behind. Another surprise, engine problems for Verstappen and starts 8th.

The walls are too close. There might be more surprises tomorrow. Race tomorrow at 13h00.

Not a bad race!

Still can’t believe Red Bull actually nailed the engine while Honda completely bottled it.

Not the first time Honda has made a shit engine. Alonso has borne the brunt of it twice.

Rumour mill is picking up, people think Vasseur will be replaced with Horner đŸ«ȘđŸ«Ș

Well that attempt at a race start was an absolute shambles! How many cars can have the same power loss?

Russell DNF! 2026 championship being defined.

Lewis P2 > P18 > P3 - what a recovery!!!

At this point, Hamilton has higher chances of winning the WDC than Russell.

Post-race interview, Russell:

I don’t need to say I think it’s gone or whatever. But, of course, it’s exceptionally unlikely, and that’s just the reality.

So many great moments from the Sepang fans and atmosphere. Hope this track stays on the calendar forever.

A new track  Wow, for infrastructure projects
early 2030s is tomorrow.

About the sportwashing claims, the F1 business and fans are not caring much. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and UAE have been there in spite of their approach to freedom and human rights.

A bit less known, but the current Azerbaijan government is behind the forced displacement of 100k people in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023. How does the PR machine work to shift attention away from forced displacement? The Azerbaijan government declared a national day to remember those who died in a previous war for that region and all we remember is that race day was moved to Saturday because Sunday way the “day to commemorate the Patriotic War”.

PS elephant in the room: 3 races in USA.

Back to current championship
an estimate that the car breaking down during several races has costed Russell up to 56 points. Current difference is 84 points. Tough to see that even if the car had performed flawlessly is not enough.

Not enough to get close to his team mate, but enough to make that Drivers’ Championship a bit more competitive.
