free debit card ?

yup, Czech or Polish, probably also Slovakian and maybe other east-european banks might offer this. (plus none of them needed to go for help to government as UBS did, so i think they are perfectly safe - or at least i didn't hear about it...)

besides you don't need to put there your whole life savings if you don't want.

no problem for me, if switzerland doesn't want my money it will not receive it shopping abroad, banking abroad... i sometimes even feel guilty.. i even pay lower tax (withholding tax) than Swiss people here. (quite a big difference i would even say)

i mean... i can almost understand the anti-sentiment they feel towards foreigners, but isn't it the time for a change? for example, open internet-only bank with no fees, no commissions etc.? to be competitive ? internet banks are not labour-intensive, and they can set up call centre in east germany if they want to keep costs low... what's the problem?

if any of you know about such bank in CH, please let us know...

Swiss Cantons (and the Federation) makes more than enough money from Corporate Taxes, dont you worry about that.

And dont feel guilty either... Czech or Polish companies might be using Switzerland's Tax friendly Laws to avoid taxes in Czeech Republic and Poland.

Switzerland has very strict banking secrecy laws. Hence, Swiss banks cannot allow data on Swiss customers to be accessible from outside CH.
